Its been a long time since it happened, but basically a bunch of people decided to shit talk an artist I like by passive aggressively insulting him then mocking him for "taking criticism negatively" when there was never any intention of helping in the first place. I got pissed and pretty much went to everyone who was taking part in it and did the same passive aggressive insults they were using on their latest deviations.

oh. I see. I'm very sorry to hear that, and I hope that that artist is doing well now. I hope that the people who took part in it know that it wasn't the nicest thing to do, but if you do the same to them, I don't think it makes you a better person. Of course, you have every right to be angry, but I think that maybe it might be time to forgive and forget. ^^

i dont know why two web comics have anything to do with this, plus im quite sure you dont understand why i posted this.
this person among others has supported those who would tear artists apart and use the excuse of it being a "critic" to justify harsh insults that do nothing to help the artist grow in any way, and only serve to tear apart their self esteem. I dont actually believe what i posted, i honestly dont find anything particularly spectacular about kevinbolk's that would interest me enough to watch him, but i dont actually hate his art. the only thing i dislike is maybe his personality perhaps as he is someone who would stand behind essentially people justifying bullying by calling it a "critic". not only in it cruel its a disgrace to the artistic community to use a process meant to help artists change and grow as a tool to belittle them.
my post is supposed to be ironic because it shows the idiocy behind such statements. Just adding "but you can improve" or such at the end of a string of insults doesnt make it a critic. All it does is make the artist unable to respond without looking like they can take criticism. it basicly means that while being attacked if they try to defend themselves it only makes the bullys job easier. i find that very cruel and unsettling that people support such behavior thus ive been commenting on their lastest artworks a copy of exactly what they are doing.Β
