You know, I hate to say this, but I really did take it as an "I don't want to be famous on the internet, so obviously I am not a healthy and proactive member of society"... Hopefully that's what you were after, because if not then I over-thought it way too much.

That actually makes a bit more sense when you think about it. Personally though, our society seems to love the idea of famous internet/media peoples, and we regard them as healthy and productive in leading the rest of us to be "In the know". It just seems so wrong to me.

It is certainly possible to be both. Just look at the Vlogbrothers on YouTube as a case-study. They are internet famous, they encourage youth to be thoughtful and educated, and they promote charity through the Project 4 Awesome every year! They are also enormously entertaining. Go Watch all 1002 of their videos. First to last. Right now.
