Just a speed paint of a strange building for Allied Enemies. I spent over an hour on it.Related content

Oh my yes. This took an hour. Should have been even less. The trick is setting up the scene before hand. I based this painting from a photo I took of a small concrete structure (about 4 feet tall) at some abandoned mill. I don't know what the concrete structure does but my imagination ran wild if only the structure had been much larger. So this is a quick paint of an environment using that bit of ruined concrete.
As for the painting itself I used a large brush first and blocked out the colors, then with a smaller brush I marked up some details. The crowd of people is based on a photo that I manipulated to blend it in as I decided to make something that looked like a street or train station. This is an old painting but it represents a huge hurtle for me. I was able to give up doing small refined details and settle for quick lines that represent more detail than I could have imagined. Look closely, little hatch marks and cable lines make this look way more complicated. It's really just an illusion.
