YES! FINALLY! I've been DYING for someone to make the connection without my saying anything! I'm thoroughly convinced that Drill Dozer was a prototype (plot-wise) for Gurren Lagann.... somehow. Though more about the heart of the drills than just plain dozing...
There aren't enough Drill Dozer characters to make a Gurren Lagaan parody of the opening, though. That's what cheeses me off. 
*Jill = Simon (Obvious)
*Big Boss Doug = Kamina
*Gearmo = Yoko (Well, since the roll of Simon is being played by a girl...)
*Grutch = Old Man Coco
*Detective Carrie and some of her officers = Kittan and the Black Kinsmen
*Leeron = Grutch's friend who runs the shop
*Beastmen = Skullkers
And I'd like to say who I think Croog would be, but that'd be kind of spoilery for Drill Dozer.

Gearmo = Viral
Grutch= Old Man Coco

Which leaves the Anti Spirals as the enemy

Heheh, I was really only thinking of a parody for the first opening. It's not like Drill Dozer lasted long enough to be compared to the "seven years later" part.

Mine's with the GL characters in the DD world. Obviously the same line of reasoning won't work both ways, since the GL characters outnumber the DD characters by a large margin.

I love this game... but I just took it back for the second time... x: Well, I get tired of it after one full playthrough, but it's a fun game. It'd be great if they'd let Game Freak actually make a sequel for WiiWare some day..
