House of M commission!That mythology is epic, and I’ll be honest, I have never even read it, but not even I can escape it’s reach. The client wanted Scarlet Witch to be weeping before the tombs of Wonderman and Quicksilver, clutching two balls of energy to her chest in quiet despair. Just beyond her would be her kin, reaching out futilely, separated by space and consciousness. Inhabiting the only other panel on the page would be Dr. Strange, walking away, defeated. It was a daunting commission, and this was take 2 in my attempts. I’m happy with how it came out and I’m glad I got to stretch my hands a little more with this one. Surroundings! Backgrounds! Atmosphere! Narratives! I can’t say I feel it’s 100% successful but it was made with love.

Being the huge Young Avengers fan that I am, I think you totally nailed Wiccan & Speed in terms of emotion and even how they are posed. I love the whole piece of course xD But I was drawn to their faces first.

Maybe you should read House of M or even the synopsis they have on wiki, because the story doesn't even follow this creation you've made.. this is what leads to House of M.. It is truly one of the best stories I've read through the history of any of the mutants sagas and still gives you quite a head-scratcher towards the end.
While the premise of the shot is emotionally heart-felt and the comfort of her fellow mutants is expected, it's really only her brother that should be there, with Strange behind them being his usual inquisitive-self.. I've gone way off the topic of this well constructed shot, but it pains me to know the story and affiliation with the shot.

Great notes! Definitely gotta read it through and through. Everything you see in the image was dictated to me by the commissioner - he was very clear about what he wanted so I followed his directions to a T. I guess he was going for more of an interpretation of the emotion and tone of the story rather than an outright depiction of the narrative?

Love the mood. My eye was immediately drawn to Wanda. However that floating Dr. Strange panel is a major distraction. Oh well, its a commission and I can only imagine how happy your client is right now.

Too many modern comic artists are "Too precious with the page." Over polished, plastic digital gradients over top of grossly over-rendered pencils. Even traditional-material comic artists working today like Alex Ross and Simone Bianchi are obsessed with a high-rendered realism that ends up really static. The material quality of your page is really quite something wonderful. There's something just unavoidably seductive about the material quality of your page- the alchemical interaction of the watercolors produce innumerable random effects on the page, each smoky and unpredictable interaction adding to the page's velvety depth. The selective character design bolsters the watercolor's natural beauty- your figures become glass vessels in which colors are poured. Lovely picture.
