Description
This started off as simply a group photo for a theatre troup. I was just starting the oilgraph process and thought that it would be a good idea to try it with them. The cast assembled and we formed a tableau that I felt reflected the dynamics withint the show. There wasn't enough room to shoot it at once so I shot it in sections and this is what led to me starting the montaging you find in much of the work. So this was the first one like that...
The guy on the left was my assistant holding the fan. He ended up in one of the frames, so I just included him in the final piece.
The tall figure pointing in the middle is my friend Paul who you can find in " Station Ten" [link]

and "The Hunted" [link]

now i see the image
again there's a religious touch about it. reminds me somewhat of the last supper. i like the huge amount of black space here. i have a thing for black, although it's maybe a bit dull often (not in your case) but i can't help it
maybe you can submit some details? like cutting it in two pieces (top and below) and submit it in larger versions so once can see more details? i'd love to see what exactly the ppl are doing. in this version you only get a vague glimpse

Hmm...not a bad idea. I may do that. It did go up smaller than I thought. I get the "Last Supper" alot. Almost every time in fact. Which thrills me to no end....since it was never in my brain when I made it. I think it just goes to show that the work isn't a solo project....

27"x38 1/2"
so much for standard sizes. My mother used to do custom framing and I would drive her crazy. For my first exhibit she would call me from work yelling, "8 1/4 by 13 3/8??!"
I was never good at coloring inside the lines as well or using the right color for the sky. Now that you bring this up, I remember why it's this dimension. I inheirited the frame from someone and made the piece to fit it. Saved me $300 than going the other way.... You think this way when you're a freelancer.
Perhaps I'll repost this one larger....

Completly understood, the same for me, i mean when i work for a exhibition the final result it sometimes due to the different solds and opportunities of materials i can found.
Anyway thx, it was just to have a idea of the real piece, until you get an exhibition in france !

Ah.... good question that I should have explained. The show was a collection of eight one acts. Had I been smart enought to post a larger version of it you could find a little '8' floating in the upper right portion....
I was thinking of renaming it since it's now far removed from it's initial purpose, but I just decided to keep it that way since that's where she started....

It lokks like they love and hate each other, it's great, like a big family that is so full of love, that protection becomes overhelming....
whatever, it's a beautiful work!

Looks like it'll be one hell of a show. I wish it was bigger, so that I could make out some of the smaller details. But other than that, it's very well done I even like the guy holding up the fan

Heh.... no worries. You are certainly not the first person to say that. In fact I get it so often, I'm usually asked 'Hey, are you gonna put the Last Supper piece in the show?'
It's not what I intended, But I actually love the fact that people see that, so thank you. I don't consider myself very in charge of what happens in the creation of the work anyways, so it doesn't surprise me when readings like that happen... it's part of the joy....

I really like the Inclusion of the cast In the bottom. I think that's an awsome way of showing the cast and showing the essence of the show.

Thank you. Yeah, I figured that it was a good way to "ground" the piece and really show each of them as they were individually... One of them was Quentin Tarentino's assistant...(who actually came to the wrap party....that's a whole other story though....)

the composition on this is stunning. very rhythmic. i love the assistant with the fan. he's like a mysterious outsider peeking in on this group. i can identify with him...being a mysterious outsider myself.
