Just learn the fundamentals, they are the basics building blocks in illustration and art. I recommend reading Scott Robertson's books.

IMHO it could use more segments on each parts, to make the silhouette more interesting. I always recommend to start from sketch, no matter your skill level, since it will help direct your piece more fluidly. Keep a general style in mind while finishing it part by part.

Yha i used to draw alot when i was younger now at my age i would rather just let someone else draw for me and i contuine to model. I get more enjoyment out of modeling with 0 artistic drawing skills.
