I'd love for you to use them! I looked on the picture cameo you have for this mission, so I think i'm answering the right questions.
1) My rescue team would react with an attack with an attack of their own. Rita would be more ferocious and Celosi would be more backup. They wouldn't really stop to ask questions if attacked first.
2) I would be fine with them not completing the task
