I wonder how many people will complain that 'it's spelt RIKU if it's Kingdom Hearts' but...nya! This be the FFX Rikku...and now I shall explain what the heck I'm on about.You see, I was browsing this French website full of artistically yummy pics by Tetsuya Nomura, earlier last week, I was looking at all of his FFX artwork, but today, I checked out the Kingdom Hearts section...and under the sketches...one thumbnail caught my eye. Braids and feathers...which was exactly what I thought it was.
This little Gem! A design for FFX's Rikku (Like the kid designs they did for Wakka and Tidus)...only this one didn't appear to make it in the game.
Tis sort of a shame, but tis good I suppose, because for one, Riku and Rikku would probably confuse the heck out of alot of people. Second, they'd probably have killed her, like they did with Wakka (Oh dear lord! That dubbed VOICE! Twas an insult to John Dimaggio's FFX Wakka!)
So anyhow, I could not resist drawing her. There was no colours (since it was a sketch) so like the Tidus and Wakka in the game, I based her outfit colours roughly on the FFX's Rikku.
Isn't she adorable?

You know I was really mad when I found out that Rikku was going to take Yuffie's place in the KH games but because of her name they descided not to...I mean Yuffie is cool and all but I would of loved it if Rikku was there instead XDDD lol

Oh yeah I heard about this. They originaly were going o put rikku in the game instead of Yuffie but some stuff happened and they changed their minds so they redisigned this out fit for Yuffie. Read the siggy please.

I was overjoyed when the GullWings appeared in KH2 (although I have no god-darn clue why they were fairies, I still thought it was cute).

Random thought: I've actually got a bunch of KH-concept sketches (including this one) and I think they meant to have her in the game instead of Yuffie, judging by the similarities in their character sketches (really, they're almost exactly teh same) but... yeah, Riku and Rikku would confuse the heck outta people.

And yet, the amusing thing is - Kingdom Hearts 2 features the FFX-2 version of Riku...so now the game has Riku AND Riku. XP

Yuffie was okay in Kingdom Hearts, I guess. But I rather prefer Rikku more over Yuffie though. The outfit makes Yuffie look more like a pilot then a ninja in my opinion. I think the outfit fit's Rikku more though, I don't know it's probably because it makes her look more Albehdish. Welp, hopefully she's in the second Kingdom Hearts.

Looks like you went for the 'me oh my, im helpless - would you like to help me( arm slightly behind back to bring chest forward)' pose. Particularly like the incorporation of the spiralling of her eyes.
Yuffie's cutesyness must die - at least rikku had a devious streak to back it up.

My idea as to why she didn't make it into KH1: The name. One k of separation would cause mass confusion to the casual gamers. "Are we supposed to go find Rikku the chick with psycho eyes, or Riku the gray-haired sexy-boi?"

Yes, I believe she did get dropped out, as did some others such as that cowboy from FF8 (forgot his name) who was replace by Wakka. You notice in that french website (yea, I know that site too), she (Rikku) is wearing the same outfit as Yuffie. Yuffie is Rikku's replacement.
Now, waiting for them to put in Vivi in the next KH game...

Yes, that site is AWESOME since Tetsuya Noruma is one of my inispsirations. The reasons you see so many belts, zippers, goggles, etc on characters I draw is because of him. Most of the time, the clothes he make on the characters are insanely awesome.

hey, Rikku! ^__^ yeah, it would have seemed nice to see her in Kingdom Hearts, but I can see that it'll be too easy to confuse her name with Riku o.o
The coloring style on here has been pulled off well enough to make her a possible design for the next game... I think.

No, she isn't. Like I was saying, she probably got dropped in the end, maybe due to name similarities...or there just wasn't enough room. Who knows, we may see her in the sequel

she's in the 2nd one! i know cause my friend got to that part, and she's there! she's apparently voiced by Tara Strong, who also does the voice of Bubbles(PPG) Raven(Teen Titans) Tarence(Foster's) Timmy(Fairly OddParents) and LOT'S More!

^v^ actually she is. As a sprite of course. She the one you find at Radiant Gardens with Yuna and some other FFX2 character whose name i forgot, and they'll give you another keyblade.
