Description Strawberry Journal Layout
This cute, simple, easy-to-use journal layout will really brighten up your userpage!

Note: This was created before the new simple click-to-install system, but it's still easy to use if you follow the instructions.

How To Use
1. First, click DOWNLOAD in order to gain access to the code. Choose 'Extract..'.
2. Choose where you want the files to be extracted to, click 'OK', and go to where you extracted them.
3. Then simply open the file 'instructions.txt', and off you go!

Note: For best results, please ensure that your 'Mood', 'Listening To', etc. information is set to 'At The Top'.

hi there. i'm trying to use this css and i've read the instructions but i cant get the two lighter coloured boxes to appear, the one with links, stamps, and credits, nor the one with the updates. the text and the strawberry graphic show up but as one vertical entry. i hope you understand what i mean, and if you can help me.

Hello! It's been several years since I created that layout and dA has changed a few things, but I think it should still work. It's hard to see what's happened without looking at the code, but the absence of the lighter boxes could be due to a couple of things.
1. Have you created a lighter version of the background to put in the column CSS? The code doesn't automatically make it lighter, it needs to be a different image.
2. If you did, and it's not showing up (and clearly the columns aren't working anyway), it may be that you need to double-check that you've got the right codes in the right boxes (i.e. Header, Main Entry and Footer) again. The writing that would be in the columns is showing up, so it would suggest there's a small bit missing somewhere in their HTML.

Did the columns work fine when you tried out the original, before editing it? I'd suggest perhaps making another test Journal, and inputting the original CSS and HTML into the right boxes as per the instructions. If it works, then just replace the main background and column background URLs with your own background images, and change the text colours to what you wanted. c: I really hope you can get it to work, best of luck!

Some computers may have different commands from those listed - if you're not familiar with how to extract files from zipped folders, there are lots of tutorials you can read (just search Google) which will help you. c:

Okay, nvm, your journal thing works, but I think the journal process has changed since you made this. You might want to change the instructions a little.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kezzi-Rose In reply to StrawberryR [2011-08-01 11:04:23 +0000 UTC]

I'm glad you were able to follow the instructions in the end. I know the process has changed recently, but to alter my journal layouts to the new "click to install" format takes HOURS - I have to completely re-upload all of it and host all the images separately. The old method still works just as well, it just takes a bit longer. If people have a little bit of patience they should have no trouble with my layout codes. Thanks!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

StrawberryR In reply to Kezzi-Rose [2011-08-01 11:26:49 +0000 UTC]

Well, the "journal entry" part has changed to "Skin Header". You could probably put a small note about that in the AC. I don't know, but it took me a while to finally get it right, and there are probably deviants out there who are gonna be more hot-headed about it when they can't get it right.

But it is still a beautiful CSS. I love it. (I also love your icon! )

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kezzi-Rose In reply to StrawberryR [2011-08-03 13:45:11 +0000 UTC]

No, the "header" and "footer" parts are the same - the only difference is that now they're called "skin header/footer" rather than "journal header/footer". The "journal entry" is the same as it's always been - the place where you actually write the content of your journal. I know it doesn't have the "journal entry" label on it any more but I wouldn't have thought that was too difficult to figure out! The zip files are all on my old computer which I don't have access to at the moment, so I can't change them. I suppose it just takes a bit of common sense for people to realise that it's only a little different; if people seriously can't figure it out and lose their temper then that's honestly not at all my problem. This is the first time anyone's ever messaged me saying they had trouble doing it, so I don't have any real concern over people's ability to work it out. c:

Thanks, though, and I'm glad you like my icon! c:
