Description This is a rather interesting and somewhat abstract work of mine, in which I wanted to depict the orbits around celestial bodies...in the end, it unintentionally included the old Ptolemaic worldview with the center of the earth, and within it the epicycles and the outermost celestial sphere holding the stars; as well as the Copernican, Heliocentric world view, with the various orbits such as circle, ellipse, parabola, hyperbola, but it also includes the seemingly irregular orbit of a comet as it travels across the sky as seen from Earth, then describes an ever smaller spiral in the sky as it moves away from us...

In the lower left corner is the Earth, as the center of the world at that time (and the ancient world itself), surrounded by the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn, and in the upper right corner of the picture is the final limit, the crystal sphere that holds the stars. However, this is being replaced by the Heliocentric world view, the Earth and Moon already form a system and orbit around our star. Many comets can be seen here. The two worldviews are best contrasted here: hyperbolic cometary orbits break through the crystal sphere that marks the boundary of the old world, and in the distance the light of a distant galaxy shines...

It's hard to put into words how much I crammed into this picture...
