Description SjΓΊkdΓ³ma

This has been resting in my folders for months now. Now that the icelandic volcano has grounded big parts of Europe, I saw this drawing and could almost hear it scream "NOW IS THE TIME TO FINISH ME!"

As far as I can remember, there was never any sketch for this. Everything is mostly done on one layer (which was quite stupid)

EDIT: Huh?! Does anyone know why the devation came out so much more yellow than the original in my folders?

thank you for the advice and comment! I can't really remember what my original thoughts were. This is one of the paintings that just start as a mess of colors, and evolve into a whole new story. I usually just enjoy the painting process, and then get the "feeling" of the painting as I proceed with it. Kind of hard to explain

Sometimes it's good to just put stuff down on one layer and accept whatever happens. XD I really like the movement and light in this. It was a good choice to make the red get brighter towards the viewer. It makes it seem like the smoke 'creature' is moving under dark, low-hanging clouds (makes sense if it's related to a volcano!), creating an interesting kind of depth. I think this would have been accentuated even more if there was another light object in the foreground on the left, but I understand if that wasn't the point. It also sort of looks like the black tendrils are reaching towards the smoke 'creature' from in front of the viewer, in which case it could be cool to make some of them bigger with more dramatic perspective. I'm only toying with these ideas, because the image has such a cool sense of movement already. You did an excellent job. What were you thinking when you started it?

It's much yellower because it stayed all muffled-like in that folder that you've kept it in all this time D:
so pretty <3 I love how rich it looks... the red and the very violet brown with the blue and the yellow-orange..<3 and how the background fades so realistically = D Also, Ich moechte (I like) how you have several other plumes of red smoke which infer that there are other smoke dragons (if you don't mind me calling them that). So it's not like a lot of the shallow pieces I see where the creature in the foreground is the only one or something and therefore looks unnatural. It looks like the creature is more a part of nature with kin.
Kudos zu dir <3 Ich liebe den Rauchdrache ^_^ (kudos to you, I love the smokedragon)
