Description
With the borders of Republic controlled space ever expanding, the old naval tradition built around formations of battleships forming grand fleets in being, has found itself sluggish and unable to cope with the many new threats and constant encroachments by hostile forces.

As such, the Republic has begun experimenting with shifting naval strategy towards smaller, more mobile independent strike groups generally composed of intermediate warships favoring generalist capabilities.

To support this radical change, the shipyards have begun producing a new line of heavy destroyers known as the Vekta Class. These oversized destroyers are the smallest Republic lineship to carry a hanger, while sacrificing some protection, this affords the class a great deal of versatility in the field.
