Description
At Loch Lomond, Scotland, in the sunset. I used an ND1000 filter to get the exposure time to about 30 seconds so the clouds would blur. The tree lies about five metres offshore and has a lovely background of hills.Related content

That's a masterpierce! I guess you cropped the pic to avoid the distorsion of the wide angle and get this almost quite squarry format. I love the filter colors and most of all your composition
Congratulations
Pris.

This is a stunning image. Outstanding color and composition. This is Photographic Art, if I have ever seen it. Great job. ~ Winky

Excellent image, great idea for the longer exposure, and those fiery colours really are eye catching.

Very cool. I always find trees growing out of the water like that a little disturbing. Go figure.

Great picture! I stumbled on it in someone's fav and immediately though "mmm I saw that before". Sure enough: congrats for winning "Your best 2009" on dpreview.com! I'm honored to be your second in this contest (with this [link] ).
Oh and welcome on dA

Hi Abey,
Cheers, that's very kind. I loved your shot, too. Especially the warm sky. How amazing to be that close (even with a zoom) to a polar bear. Thanks, still find my feet here on DA, it's a bit different from Flickr and DPreview, eh? Especially groups and such it seems. Just a quick question, have you done the premium option on here and is it worth it?
Cheers again,
Stewart.

Thanks!
Yeah dA most definitely different from flickr and dp. The group thing is pretty new here (beginning of this year) and replaced the previous "clubs", which were informally organised with little support from the site. So I guess pretty much everyone is still discovering things.
I do have the premium membership since a year and a half or so. Basically, it allows more flexibility to customize your page and galleries. I think its quite make sense if you're serious about presenting your work (as opposed to just showing of your last holiday snapshots).

Cool - I'll have to investigate since it's not much cash.
Take it easy,
Stewart.

Hi!
It was taken along the east shore of Loch Lomond on the West Highland Way (in Scotland). A lovely tranquil place in the winter and a hell of jetskis, watersports and barbeques in the summer...such is the way of things.
Cheers for your comment,
Stewart.

Hi John - I used an ND1000 filter - no gradient just a screw-on one. It darkens the light by 10 stops so you can take 30 second shot in the day or longer at sunset. Hope this helps and cheers for our comment!
Cheers,
Stewart.
