Description
Another version of the magnificent Bridge of Aspiration at the Royal Ballet school in Covent Garden - many many thanks to the kind staff who let me nose around and take pictures of it. This is a modern (very modernist) foot bridge between the Royal Ballet School and the Royal Opera House built by Wilkinson Eyre architects.Related content

I have a photo of this from the outside: [link] . It's great to have this chance to collect a well taken photo of the inside.

This is a great shot! And my memory is very, very rusty, but isn't your name something like 'thank you' in Russian?

kharashov In reply to iceofwolf [2011-06-22 20:22:16 +0000 UTC]
It means 'OK' or 'Good' in Russian, so kind of like it, aye. Cheers for your comment.

1st: you're angle is superb!
2nd: do you know how architects design such structures as this one?
3nd: that bridge looks so cool, but weird and unique.
LOVE IT<3

It's what I thought, too. Very odd to have dancers skip past while I was taking the shot as well. The Royal Ballet School were really cool in letting me in to have a look. Cheers for your comment

Very very beautiful!! I really like the color and the ever changing angles and form. But I wonder what is the span and how does the structural work.

It's actually quite small and all it consists of are square wooden frames between glas that are angled increasingly as you go along (a quarter turn in all) but that still doesn't really capture how graceful and beautiful the bridge looks in the flesh. Cheers for your comment

My respect to your friends, dancing at the royal ballet takes a huge amount of skill and commitment, it almost makes the architecture look easy in comparison.
