Description Well, maybe you even don't know that this photograph existed in my gallery, without the retouches, border and titling, from the beginning...

And as I thought on my other retouched photos, I think it changed and became a different photo...

Please let me know what you think, and I think, full view captivates the feeling I had more...

Thank you for viewing...

Best Regards and ,

Thank you Eileen... It is wonderful to hear you liked it..

By the way, I'm not "caught" (I happened to see your reply on my message on your page, yesterday )

Well, I get "caught" sometimes, but I'm a little bit slippery

If you are as truly charming in personal relationships as you are on-line, I envy the woman who catches you. As it is, I enjoy our 'talks' and I look forward to seeing you grow...

But,

Seeing me grow?

Don't you see me as a grown up man?

I meant seeing you grow more as a photographer.... I know full well you are a grown up man... no disrespect was meant.

Totally amazing your shots. I adore this one. Do you use manual settings when you shoot, can you give me some advice? I have the 350D and am having such a hard time getting this kind of clarity. Did you use a tripod on this too?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kharax In reply to babyducks [2005-10-30 15:08:43 +0000 UTC]

Thank you... It becomes better with your comments...

Now... Let me share what I know on getting clearer shots...

First of all, congratulations on choosing a 350D, it's a perfect machine.

I nearly always shoot manually, mainly because of the flash... The lighting is not always sufficient, but when the flash pops, it gives an incredible amount of artificial light, which you can't really clear with Photoshop. So, I use manual settings, to let the camera adapt itself to poor lighting conditions as much as possible. But it can never get closer to a perfectly lit setting's clarity, of course...

But you don't need to do manual settings to get a nice, crisp image...

So, the first important thing, is lighting... Don't go after flash.. Use sufficient light to make it not pop up, when you half-push the button, in auto setting.
If you half-push the button, it will focus... and create a beautiful double beep If it does not, then it did not focus properly...
When looking from the camera towards the object and half-push the button, you will see that one or more rectangles on the screen is (are) lit red while beeping... Those are the areas which focused perfectly... Please be sure that those areas are the areas which you want to see sharp...

I think you are using the kit lens, which is a perfect EFS (new technology ) 18-55 zoom lens...

Always, set your photo size to the largest possible.
Shoot single flowers with while the lens is adjusted to 55mm, and stand away from the flower a little bit to blur the background and create the illusion of perfect clarity... Our brain, ALWAYS compares... Luke warm water seems cool; if you touch it after touching very hot water, it feels hot, if you touch it after touching ice cold water... That's why before a blurry background, even not perfectly sharp images, "seem" perfectly sharp...

I hope you are satisfied a little with my brief explanations

Ask me whatever you like, and I'll try to explain as much as my knowledge on photography and english language lets me...

And, I don't like to use tripods too much, unless I'm using zoom lenses bigger than 150mm...

Gosh. This is one of the most beautiful photographs i've ever come across.
It looks so sad in many ways. That droplet of water really does look as if the flower has shed a tear. The darkness of the colours in the background away from the bright pink of the petals seems to add a sad atmosphere to this piece, though at the same time, it has quite a mysterious look to it. The photo is very smooth to look at, and looks very textured. The petals look very soft.
