Bleh. I messed up ROYALLY on the background. When I use open canvas, everything goes onto one layer - as in, background, foreground... EVERYTHING. And after looking at the image when I finished coloring the whole thing, I changed the background. Soo.. now it's stupid looking. >>'''' Anyhoo. Not happy with this image. Not at all.Oh, and I hate grass, too.
Anyhoo, the city in the back is, well... Hmm. How to express what this image means. >>''' Ook....
The city's reality - how the world IS. It's just... there. On the outside... it's all dull; boring... listless. (My brother says it's like Townsville from PPG..
;; )The unicorn is imagination... what we want the world to be like, our dreams.... basically, abstract concepts which I can only think up words for in Chinese.
Think up your own retorical questions - I sure had tons when I was drawing the image.... "What do we really want? What's worth going for? Imagination and creativity color our world, but what is really there?" Bleh. I'm too lazy to bother with typing them all out.
Don't look at this as an image - look at this as a message.

The message stood out to me bluntly when I first viewed this. You depicted it nicely.

This is beautiful! The coloring is a tad simplistic, but it gives the image a good quality, mostly because the coloringis kept consistent throughout (so I dunno what you're talking about with the background. Looks good and intentional to me. 
The city is represented very well but, like furiousrabies said, looks like it's overtaking the imagination rather than the imagination overtaking the reality. I kind of get either the message of growing up, where you lose your innocence and youth and magic only to step into a humdrum world devoid of it all; or a sort of advancement of the world type thing, where the sense of what's not there is dwindling (or whatever... I can't really describe it it words).
Either way, you've done a very good job putting the message out. There's good composition, good shading on the Unicorn (which, btw, is the perfect representation of 'imagination'), and ya know what?, I like the grass.

On the contrary, I had wanted the city to seem like it was "eating away" at the fantasy; Nowadays, it seems that the world revolves around the material things. Thanks for the feedback - It's very much appreciated!

I think you did a pretty impressive job here. Your usage of colors is quite effective, with the monotonous representation of the city and bright colors in the foreground.
There were just a couple technical things that I felt could be improved, like the road. Though I know it stretches out into the background, it still seems too large to be a road. Then, I feel the unicorn's back could use a little bit more curve.
But I'd say you've succeeded in using art as a medium to convey messages

for some reason i think 'impending doom' or 'inevitable.' Or maybe I even think about suffocation.... the city seems to be chasing away fantasy.
Or for retorical questions -- "Do I have to?" "Can't I dream forever?" "When will it all come crashing down?"
