Welp, I was convinced to read the Republic Commando books and now I can't think of anything else. o____oI spent 5 hours yesterday reading the first one.
I spent 5 hours today drawing this because I don't have the second one yetttt.
It was really fun, I tried a new coloring technique and drew armor, a gun, AND feet without crying so I'm pretty proud. Also tried the color gradient overlay thing again, 'cause I still don't understand how to make proper color palettes.

This is really beautifully done.Ā The light and the leaves capture that late-summer, early autumn glow.Ā It's almost exactly how I pictured the scene in Hard Contact when Niner is up in the tree, watching Hokan's drunken militia get their permanent discharge notice from that group of droids.Ā The commando looks perfect too.
I've got to say I'm pretty jealous of your art skills.Ā It isn't very often that someone on DA that writes excellent prose is also so gifted with a paintbrush.Ā I wish I could illustrate some of my favorite scenes too, but my drawing ability is, well...Ā I think I'll stick to writing.

this is beautiful and great but now it's also really funny because all i can think of is how his butt was going numb sitting there. like. the book was very explicit about his numb buttocks.

GOSH I love that mood of faint sunlight through the trees - reminds me of walking through the local park, except I imagine there isn't a GAR commando sitting in the tree with me in the optics.Ā : PĀ Ā Ā Bloody fantastic work on the armor - it's surprisingly hard to draw.Ā The traces of green from him falling through the trees/camo just makes it even more immersive.
Please keep drawing more RepComm (or whatever strikes your fancy!), you've got a heck of a skill there.Ā

aw thank you!! Oh, I will... trust me, it consumes most of my waking hours. I've got to channel all that fiction-induced emotion somewhere
