30 years ago on this very day, a Sonic The Hedgehog TV show premiered on this day in 1993, when the blue hedgehog was becoming popular in the West. The story follows Sonic the Hedgehog, who is a member of the Freedom Fighters who battle against the evil scientist Dr. Robotnik to save their world from destruction. Although the show lasted for two seasons, it has gained a cult following throughout the years, and even found some life in the now ended Archie Comics adaptation. What was the show called you ask? Sonic The Hedgehog, though nowadays it is called Sonic SatAM.

When I was a wee little lad in the late 90s, I rented an old Sonic the Hedgehog VHS from a video rental store that had two episodes from Sonic SatAM, which were "Super Sonic" & "Sonic & Sally". I also rented another Sonic VHS that had the episodes "Road Hog" & "Tails in Charge" that was from Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, or AoStH for shot, another Sonic show that was more light-hearted and slapstick than its serious toned counterpart. My parents rented both Videos and, well, I was immediately hooked. The shows were what got me into Sonic in the first place. We had the Sonic & Knuckles Collection pack for our old PC, but it didn't get me hooked on Sonic. The shows and those VHSs were what sparked my love and interest in the Blue Blur, and I've been a Sonic fan since then.

Anyway, It's Sonic SatAM's 30th Anniversary, so I made this for the occasion. I was thinking about making a drawing, but I couldn't make myself draw anything for some reason. So, I decided a little picture-like scene made with Source Filmmaker would suffice. Since AoStH premiered in the same month, I've added Scratch, Grounder, and Coconuts in the picture. Knuckles and Amy are added too for the heck of it. Neither of them was in either shows, though Knuckles did appear in Sonic Underground, a 1999 Sonic show where Sonic had a brother and sister, and they were part of a rock band.

As I've said with many other shows, it's amazing that this show has an amazing fanbase even after all these years. It is kinda sad that the show ended on a bit of a cliffhanger. But hey, I'm just glad that the show happened. Speaking of which, there's a dedicated team of people that are working to bring a Season 3 for this show to life. Check out their YouTube channel here:
