Description

The large patrol vessels of the Bottsand-class are only semi-militarized vessels, instead belonging to the Küstenwache (Coast Guard). Equipped with rescue and fire-fighting equipment, they also are armed with a 76mm super-rapid gun, a 27mm Mauser Drakon and two 27mm MLG weapons, in addition to machine guns. In wartime, they can be armed with a MK-43 RAM launcher and eight NSSM missiles to make them a credible threat. They have a sonar, but their only ASW method are either conventional depth charges or the on-board helicopter.

Six of these vessels are in service now.
