Description

Originally intended as a scout and escort tank to the large Eisbär siege tanks, the Wiesel (Weasel) was soon discovered to be the solution the army needed to be on par with the latest Khanate battle tanks. First fitted with the proven 75mm L/36 gun, it's 60mm sloped frontal armor proved to be a tough enough to withstand most enemy weapons at normal distances.

Up-gunned with the 75mm L/60, the tank proved to be a most versatile, highly-mobile vehicle outpacing the older khanate tanks. Once established as the new workorse of the army, the Wiesel was put into high mass production and the Imperium turned out some 40000 of this type and it's derivatives.

Indeed it was well-suited for variants and spawned air-defense tanks, siege vehicles, artillery-spotters, artillery vehicles and about 20 more, less prominent versions, including a chemical warfare vehicle. Some versions were smashing successes, like the Orkan air-defense version. Some, like the tank destroyers, were mostly failures due to their weight issues.

The battle tank variants were constantly upgraded with newer technologies and continued to be a threat until the war's end and continued to serve the Imperium until some twenty years later.
