Description
Another irreplacable vehicle of the imperial armed forces, used by all services and sees even use in the civilian sector. Pioneering the modular approach that was later perfected in the Onager, the Multi shares a common cabin and engine section, as well as a flatbet which can accept a number of mission modules. Using a simple attachment system, Multi ist by far not as versatile as Onager, yet it was a step to reduce cost and ease maintenance.Over the years of it's service, a plethora of modules were invented and are too numerous to be counted, especially in civilian use. There are, however, a lot of common versions.
Chief amongst them is the standard cargo carrier variant, which is a semi-enclosed module able to store standard pallets for different cargos. A similiar version with a tank module also exists.
Owing to first bad experiences with overseas deployment and encounters with IEDs (improvised explosive devices), a dedicated electronic warfare variant was made to cover troops in built-up terrain. Jamming cellphone and short-range communications wavelengths, it also disrupts command links. Upgrades to jam wire-guided missiles or infrared-targetting were added over time.
On that notion, a bomb disposal variant with additional armor, a manipulator arm (which is fixed to the cabin and not a modular thing), as well as a cargo storage for remote-controlled explosive disposal robots was invented, often operating along the aforementioned electronic warfare version.
Another variant spawned by the first overseas missions is the propaganda...pardon...informations version. This module is armed with loudspeakers and leaflet launchers to inform local populations of current developments. This variant also has grenade launchers for tear gas grenades, just in case the informations are not...well received.
A radar variant to support local garrisons and air-defense installtions was introduced and since upgraded to new and advanced radars as of late. The air-defense variant sports eight Venusfliegenfalle missiles.
The latest, most well-liked version is the ambulance module. Equipped with stretchers for three wounded, an aid-station for a nurse and a generator for medical equipment, this variant also sees use with civilian aid-services.
All military variants of the multi are armed with a common 7.62 general purpose machinegun, while civilian variants sometimes make use of a water cannon instead.
