My thoughts on the episode "Small"

I actually liked it... very much. It wasn't what I was specting, I may actually understimated Parker Simmons and how he an his crew were going to handle this episode. Not gonna lie, I was suspecting that most of the episode was going to be Mao Mao (revealed now as Mao Mao Mao) trying desperately to get his dad's atention and how Adorabat and Badgerclops were going to make him see that his dad it's a jerk. But no... we have an adult Mao Mao with little hopes that his father changes his ways of seeing him, but still expecting for any little sign of aproval.

To try to understand how I like this episode, you can see this . (Sorry if you don't watch The big bang theory) but I liked this episode because it reminded me of this scene. We have a parental figure neglecting one of their children, telling them without hesitation that they are not as good as their other siblings... Does that mean they hate their children? No.

First of all, Mao Mao dosen't hate his dad, he knows he's the best hero ever, but not the best person. Even so, part of him wants his aproval more than anything, and that's the sad part. In one point Mao admits that even if he tries with all his might, he will never be like his father, Adorabat responds "I like you how you are", but Mao Mao's eyes says it all "I don't". Even with amazing moves and great strenght, Mao hates himself for not being worthy of his father's love, or at least that's what he thinks.
Shin Mao dosen't hate his son, but I think he avoids Mao because he's, in a way, a reminder of how much he hates himself for being small and dependent on a metal body to be heroic.

The dialogue for this comic came from a let's play video of Jacksepticeye playing God of War. When young Atreus told his dad that quote, Jack responded with the rest. I found it very fitting for these kind of relationship. Mao Mao will still be small, if he allows himself to feel that way.
But I gotta admit, know I'm scared. I know that the relationship with his dad it's not over, I loved that actually, it's way more realistic that a pat in the shoulder dosen't solve this huge problem. But, what about his sisters? What does Mao Mao feel about them? How they feel about Mao Mao? From what I've seen, Mao wants to become a legend to be at his father's and sisters's side. But at the same time he knows he will never be them, and he can't start being him because he hates himself at this moment! It's all a cycle in which Mao Mao dosen't have a real reason to become a hero (thing is he is already one, but not the one he wants to be) besides his cry asking love from his family, with the tragic plus that he dosen't realize he already has a family that loves him just as he is. God I'm loving this series...

If you actually read all way until here, you should know that I made this comic using Clip Studio Paint, trying to get the hand of comics to make more Mao comics in the near future. Wish me luck.
