Having just zipped up her leather catsuit she had worked the last three months for, the young drow woman admired herself in the mirror for a while, then walked up to the window to the balcony. She arranged her glasses, and gazed into the cityscape of the North Liberikan night. There was the Deals Square, and the Acolyte Park Street just nearby - the gateway to a bustling night life to satisfy all desires of body and soul. Despite her dressing quite the part for the crowds usually hanging out there, the female drow bit her lip, and hid instinctively behind the corner of the window.

Was the attention, or the crowds really what she was seeking? Some approval of strangers, to soothe her daily stress of her superiors constantly talking down on her at the office? Or was the leather suit like an armor to her; a force-field between her and the harsh realities of living in a superpower state on Jauna Zeme? So many people all around, yet so little common ground with either of them... It was just too easy to feel lonely among a crowd in the city of Newforton, which, despite its three-million-large population, was still on the small side for a North Liberikan city.

A light rain started to drizzle outside. The drow shivered in her shiny second skin, and closed up the curtain on the city lights outside. After dimming the lights and turning up the air conditioning, she went for her video gaming console. The holodisc of her favorite point-and-click interactive detective novel was already inside, waiting for the nerdy drow accountant to immerse herself into yet another solitary evening of gathering clues to solve the mystery of the Snowland archipelago meteorite.
