Description

The title of the book is the story behind the image..

I only wanted to do a simple portrait, so I made a small background..  then I made a garden.. then I added a house.. then I had to add characters..
Simply can't help myself doing whole scenes rather than close-ups! *sigh* I guess I shouldn't fight it.

Thanks for looking

GAWD!!! Everything you do is just a totally beautiful piece, one right after the other. Fabulous colors and lighting, and I love the lighthearted feel of the scene. The entirety of the image is so inviting and makes me wish I was right there, either reading the book or snickering with the fairies. Porrette, you truly are an inspiring artist. I so love your work.

Thank you so much Glen! You know, I'm pretty sure you were one of the first people who commented on my first renders at Daz and you've followed me ever since with lot's of encouragement, so it means a lot that you still enjoy my work, especially as some aren't necessarily in the genre's you might normally be into!    It seems forever yet has only been about 6 months yet I think (and hope) I'm improving with each render.. I'm still working up to that action scene, which I'd love to do, one day, perhaps a bit grittier. That could be an interesting experience!

Eh, genre's are minor and definitely a personal taste, but I like variety in my diet. . When it comes to action scenes, I look at dungeonmeister 's work. I love his style and quality so much. He's great at action.

Thank you PSK! After talking about photoshop previously, I had to alter the colour quite a bit in this render because it came out quite dull due to the volumetric lighting cube! But it was worth it in the end   (And, same as you, I spent an hour looking for the right pose when I could have done it manually in that time!  )

PSK-Projekt4D In reply to Kibosh-1 [2018-10-30 14:37:00 +0000 UTC]

Good to know it's not just me. Just collected too many pose presets.

I also have to experiment more with volumetric lightning cubes. Up to now they had always deterred me because of the render time. Maybe when I (finally) have a new graphics card.

Colors are not always easy anyway. And one fights actually against windmills in the Internet. Very few have calibrated monitors.

Yes, let's see, in theory a new 1080 Ti will be tested today. My fourth order try. Two attempts  were cancelled by the dealer because of availability problems 1-2 days later and the first card crashed all games.

That's incredibly bad luck you've had with it, hope it gets sorted soon!

PSK-Projekt4D In reply to Kibosh-1 [2018-11-06 08:30:57 +0000 UTC]

No, have no luck.  The new card runs, the games don't crash anymore, but it makes strange noises and I could find out that one of the 4 rotors doesn't run because it probably gets stuck on the heat sink. So also the one goes back...

Arrrrrgh, I would be so frustrated and annoyed by now! Every time to take the computer apart and package the card up to send it back.. so annoying for a new product.

Thanks Cederien, I do love doing scenes, just sometimes though I feel like I should try a more simple portrait that doesn't take a week of work   (But then afterwards I'd still want to put them in a huge scene anyhow  )

You definitely have a real talent with atmospheric lighting. Really nice It reminds me of the work of Marcel Marlier, a belgian illustrator.

Thanks Sir Tancrede, I wasn't sure how far to push it but I think it turned out quite romantic / magical
And thanks for mentioning the illustrator Marcel Marlier - I googled him and there is a lot to be inspired by.. problem is now I have 5 more ideas to add to my growing list of scenes I want to do!!

Thanks Scott!  I really like the garden, it looks like a magical place... and, as a bonus, it doesn't look like you need to mow the lawns!
As usual, I did two versions and couldn't decide which one to post but I think this one had better composition, so thanks for your comments

Do you mean the book-cover drawing? Did you recognize that.. you have an excellent eye and memory

It was quite fun making the texture/book-cover, I see why you would enjoy making all the heraldry stuff for your Scottish project!
