Description
Favorite Ancestor isn’t until Day 26 of the 30-day challenge, but when the Disciple made her debut a week ago, I couldn’t resist skipping ahead. Because I suddenly have a favorite Ancestor. I sketched this the day her panels appeared, but didn’t get the chance to finish coloring until today because work.Anguish can make you do irrational things. What if…the Disciple was the first to wear the sign of the Signless, messily scrawled on her skin in his blood as she screamed to the unheeding heavens in lament and defiance of his demise, the image of his bonds and the bright slashes of his lifeblood a crimson contrast to the pale green of the tears staining her grief-stricken face?
Well, what if?

I just love this paring, I get such feels over it, and this picture made me cry! I'm not exaggerating! I'm blinking back tears as I'm typing this!

It's beatiful!! I love the story 'ifs' and I love the sign on her head. But signless had a necklace he wore with his symbol. Butttttt She could have taken it to, and did that
go DISCIPLE!

Heyyyy, thank you! It's actually really nice to know that the idea/composition gets across even if you don't know the character.

I saw this on Tumblr and I mean, wow. That's really all I can say. The Disciple is by far my favorite ancestor, and I love your whole idea here. I am officially adding this as my Headcanon- that the Disciple was the first to have the sign of the Signless. I love this so much.

This is so cool looking! The mostly-two-color palette really gives it a lot of visual drama and severity, which really pumps up her emotions. And the lack of outlines looks really spectacular - that's probably way harder to pull off than it seems, especially in a piece like this that's got so many dark colors. And also the texturesssssss. <3 So badass.
(Pretend like I said "really" about twelve more times. ¬.¬ )

Awww, thank you so much for the sweet comment! The sekrit to my lineless painting in so many shades of black, grey, green, and red is...45+ layers, as I worked. Basically. XD;

... My GOD how has this not gotten any comments?!
Seriously, the pain and suffering in the Disciple's face is almost PALPABLE here. The only complaint I have is her eyebrows being too bright, but it's such a minor complaint in regards to how well the expression conveys her anguish PERFECTLY.

Ahh, thank you for your kind comment! Looking at it again the next day I do agree about the eyebrows. XD; But I'm glad the emotion gets through, that's what I was going for! Thank you again.
