From the movies only?... all of the troll and elf character from The Golden Army are from that movie but pretty much everybody else is from the comics... and Agent Meyers only appears in the first movie, not from the comics.

Of course the comics have a wider world and a lot more room to tell a story so there's much more to be found there.
You'll find many Hellboy fans love the character Lobster Johnson and the character Roger plays a big role in the B.P.R.D (if you look closely in the hallway leading to Hellboy's room in both movies, right in the first doorway of the hall you'll see the inanimate body of Roger).
But yeah, there's much more to be found in the comics... I think there's a Hellboy sourcebook out there that might help.

so the comics have Liz? i heard they didn't.

im collecting them in spurts. new singles, and the big old collections. i've only got 3 so far (1 issue, new. 2 collections.)

i like both. i think hellboy is a little different in the movies than the comics, but like as in he deals with things on his own in the comics (what i've read) and in the movies he is... less Serious, not so mature in some parts. but i like both, because i think its a good translation from a comic that isn't as big as Superman or Batman or something. and i loves animotronics. screw CG, i want it THERE!!!

so are you a Dark Horse fan, marvel, dc...? something else, more than one?

Dark Horse, Marvel, DC, Image, the list could go on and on... I'm just a comic fan.

Liz is a major character in the comics, she was absent for a while in the early Hellboy comics (spoiler) because she was in a sort of coma.
The first B.P.R.D trade "Hollow Earth" is a good book that recaps on the relationship that everyone has with Hellboy and why he isn't with the team anymore, other than that I would recommend the first five Hellboy trades or at least the fifth one "The Conqueror Worm" to catch you up or answer a few things.

Come to think of it... the ending to The Conqueror Worm was the ending they used for both films, with a little bit of Hollow Earth mixed into the second one.

well, good, cause i want what i love from the films in the movie. i've read the trades "Strange Places" and "the Troll Witch and Others." got the later becuase of the girl to cow in T.Witch story. ^^

i love comics. i love to analyse, i love to have fun. my mentor in highschool had his room full. from "Ghost in the Shell" "V for Vendetta" to "StarDust" and "UsagiYojimbo" Dark knight even.
