Description
Pokédex entry:A vicious psychic Pokémon created by genetic engineering. Its cold glowing eyes strike fear into the hearts of its enemies.
The most powerful Pokémon in the world. Period.
The first Pokemon movie is the one we all remember, and my personal favorite. Among all legendary Pokemon, Mewtwo has by far the most compelling character. In order to do Mewtwo justice, I spent a good amount of time on this one, and made sure that I stuck closely to the source material. I added glowing veins on him so it would be coherent with the Mew drawing that I did.

Gorgeously done! Mewtwo is my fave, too, and I definitely agree that he is THE pokémon. (The first movie was my fave as well.)

It's a good thing you added the glowing veins so you can literally see the power coursing throughout his body. This is probably one of the coolest Mewtwo pictures I've seen in a while, at least a new one. But wow, I love the detail of the destruction, it's rather awe-inspiring.
*has tried really hard to keep from squealing like a fan-girl*

I absolutely love Mewtwo, but to be honest, I was rather unhappy about his having an actual human voice in the movie. It sort of killed his mysteriousness and coolness factor.
Anyway, this is awesome. I love your use of space and your attention to detail, though the coloring is what really blows me away. I find that, a lot of times, high-quality digital art can start to look a bit sharp and unrealistically perfect. But you've achieved just the right balance between softness and precision, and the results are very impressive. Congrats on such a fine piece of artwork. :]

Oh wow, thanks so much, I'm very glad you like it! In all honesty, I think I tried a little harder for this one because of the fact that it IS Mewtwo.
Personally I found his voice very haunting as a kid, it scared me a little. I had a bit of a laugh afterwards when I found out the same voice actor voiced Yugi in the Yu-Gi-Oh series.
Thanks again!

Mewtwo has always been one of my favourites. I think you did him justice with this art.
... Too bad he isn't considered the most powerful anymore. In the games his overall stats may be outmatched by Arceus, however, I think he still has a good chance against it. His speed is higher than that of Arceus, which makes him strike first. And his Special Attack is way better than Arceus. So for that matter he is still the most powerful.
Actually in terms of Special Attack Mewtwo has the most power. It is only outmatched in special attack by an Attack forme Deoxys. But from all Pokemon in their original form Mewtwo has the highest base special attack.
In your face, Arceus lovers!
Anyway, back to the art. I think you did a great job on it. I also like how you made the background the destroyed lab where he was 'born'.
And those veins kinda give him that extra creepyness/mysteriousness. He certainly looks like a foe you would rather avoid running into. I also like the blue aura. It may have been an obvious choise to add, since he usually has that glow, but here it also kinda adds to the cold atmosphere of the picture.
I think you did really well on this one. Keep it up!

Hmm, I've actually thought about a couple of things in regards to Mewtwo. As far as I know, Arceus' power has stayed the same throughout its existence. However, Mewtwo has grown more powerful over time. It even says so when Giovanni tries to capture it again in the "Mewtwo Returns" movie. Arceus may still be more powerful right now, but that may not be the case in time.
Thanks a lot! There will definitely be more to come!

In the anime Mewtwo indeed seems to get stronger. Not much is known about Arceus on that part since it sleeps in an other dimension most of the time.
I'm not sure if Mewtwo could beat Arceus in the anime. Arceus in the anime has all of the plates equipped to it. So it can defend against anything and it's move Judgment can also become any type it wants. Even if it wouldn't be super effective it will certainly still do a lot of damage. Mewtwo doesn't seem to have an attack capable of doing so much damage. He's still really strong though, especially his psychic powers, just not 'Judgment strong'.
If Mewtwo were to fight against Arceus he should wipe out its memory.
I wonder if Mewtwo can do more tricks like that. :>
No problem. I would love to see more art like that.

Mew is God, Arceus is a false God.
They couldn't stand Mew being the ancestor of ALL the Pokemon, so they made Arceus, who is a Pokemon, and Mew is the ancestor of all
Pokemon so Mew came first and created the others.
This is just my opinion, but I stand firm in this belief.

And they also state that Mew is the Mother of All Pokemon. So they are contradicting themselves.

Not really, actually. All Arceus really did was shape the universe, and create the Time and Space legends, as well as a few others, most likely including Mew. Mew is known as the mother of all Pokémon because its genetic code is similar to pretty much every single Pokémon out there, which suggests it created the non-Legendary Pokémon that inhabit the planet.
Arceus is the 'God' of Pokémon, but that doesn't mean that it's the only God-like Pokémon out there. Mewtwo was created to be the most powerful Pokémon, which means it could definitely hold its own in a fight against Arceus. Whether or not it would beat it depends on the circumstances.

I think Mew is one of the God Pokemon.
Mewtwo would probably fare very well in a fight.

Delthero In reply to Mr-Scarlet-Nokitsune [2011-11-02 15:54:35 +0000 UTC]
Well, every single Legendary is a God of some sort, even the less powerful ones. There are the all-powerful ones that control parts of the universe like Dialga and Palkia, there are ones that watch over the elements like Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres; and there are ones like Mew and Celebi that are just extremely powerful God-like creatures.
A Mewtwo vs. Arceus fight would definitely be something to see. Mewtwo has raw power on its side, but Arceus can change its type at will, so it's two different battling styles duking it out. I still think in the end it would be a tie, but who knows? It's interesting to plot out what could happen, though.

Well, to be honest anything after G/S/C Pokemon in my opinion, were no longer Pokemon. They looked more like Digimon, and like they no longer had any clue how to be original with their designs. I'm an avid fan of the first games, I started with the first and original card game as well. Mew -is- the "God" Pokemon in my opinion, and it -was- the most powerful in the world until Mewtwo came along. Despite these new gods popping up. If you're a -true- fan, I think you'd share my opinion. Only the original fans who started with the original games Gotta stick to it
The new Pokemon.. To be honest, are rather weird and freaky in my opinion anyway. Wish they'd actually look like they're from the same franchise.

You sound kind of condescending there... how are you to decide whether I am a true fan or not? By your definition, only people who started with the original games and dislike everything after G/S/C are 'true fans'. I started with Red and Blue right when they came out as well, I've bought every single game since (and loved every one of them), tons of cards, merchandise, and drawn many pictures stating my love of Pokémon, does that make me a true fan? Just because I like the newer Pokémon doesn't mean I ignore the old ones. The first generation is still one of my favorites. If you don't like the new Pokémon, that's fine, but that is your opinion.
Also, there are well over 600 Pokémon now. The franchise is still going strong, so they're probably going to keep making more. It's very hard to stay perfectly original and please every single fan when making that many creatures, so of course there are going to be some that you don't like. That kind of comes with the territory! Just because they might not look like Pokémon to you doesn't mean that they aren't. Some of the new designs are just as creative as the old ones, and vice versa- some of the old designs aren't that creative. There are "duds" (for lack of a better word) in each generation.
So... that's pretty much it. I have my opinions, and you have yours, I'd be very surprised if they were the same! Every person is different, so there's really no sense in putting them down just because they think differently about something than you do. Personally, I think a 'true fan' of any franchise is one who is able to look past peoples' differences, recognize that their opinions may be different about it, and still accept it and have fun with that franchise. But that's just my opinion. You might not share that, and that's perfectly fine!
Sorry if this sounds weird at all, I'm not that good with words. ;;

I am being condescending, though I know that many don't share my same view, but I wanted to offer that view for those who might have skipped it. I have no idea if you're a true fan or not tbh, I was more stating that they start out with the original games I know that the Pokemon franchise is still very strong, and I'm glad that it is
But its quality on originality in the newly created Pokemon was lost after G/S/C. The storyline has kept its quality however and has even gotten more complex. I'm not really concerned on the new Pokemon being powerful however. I like the new systems, loved the baby Pokes and gender systems introduced, but creating more and more powerful Pokemon just to sell the game, (which seems to be the case with most), is getting to be a bit annoying. The "God" Pokemon was just too much, and, being a strong fan of the original games I completely disregard it, not to mention the Pokemon made for that game were designed poorly. I took one look and thought "Digimon....". Don't get me wrong though, I still love playing the games, but the Pokes -have- gotten too weird for me, especially in B/W. Anyway! I felt like being a bitch while writing this, so forgive my abruptness X3
