I know. I don't even think he'll be in Ep. 9.

I like the New Trilogy but it has this habit of wasting new characters.

I'm thinking of writing my take on the New Trilogy. An Alternate-Continuity New Trilogy. It can be enjoyed alongside OR in lieu of the canon movies.

In my version, Phasma will get to shine, the Guavians & Kanjiklub will get some badassery in, More of Bala-Tik (cuz I think he's a hottie, too) as well as more Bazine. Lt. Mitaka will be a prominent F.O. Officer character (I might have him captured by The Resistance, have a thing with Lt. Connix and become a redeemed Double-Agent for the good guys), BB-9E will be a prominent enemy/foil for BB-8, StormPilot will be a thing (It'll be a polyamorous, Finn-Poe-Rose thing, actually), Ackbar will play a major role alongside Holdo rather than die off-screen and D.J. WILL GET RE-HIRED BY THE FIRST ORDER ONLY TO PULL A REVERSE OF WHAT HE DID IN EP. 8.

Starkiller base will be less ludicrous in nature. I always found it incredibly implausible from a scientific standpoint. I know it's a space FANTASY but my suspension of disbelief was greatly challenged. Also; Characterization of Snoke & Hux will be a lot more consistent....they both went from "Mostly cool & collected" to "HAMMY ALL THE TIME". Hux should be more moderately-ham at times (while still dignified) while Snoke is always calm yet still very intimidating....he can still be cruel but he would always be soft-spoken.

There will be Poe-Finn-Rose and Reylo and Ben will be redeemed and Ben & Rey will start "The Grey Order of Skywalkers" on a on Ach-To (on a neighboring island, not the original island). Leia will survive to the end, enjoy the fruits of her labors and hug Ben as he comes home. Maz Kanata will play a huge role throughout as a sort of Yoda 2.0 and will created a Force School for "lay people"/non-Skywalkers so they can handle their gifts.

Maz's "Labor Dispute" in Ep. 8 involved rebuilding her home using the rubble from her old castle. She'll rebuild her hangout/refuge/bar for scoundrels.

It'll pretty much follow the plot of the canon movies but with changes and improvements. Snoke will still die half-way buy his background will still be commented on and he'll seem more important. I'm using the films as a guideline and I even accept some of the stuff deemed "controversial from a thematic point of view.

The Knights of Ren will replace the Praetorian Guard, there will be divisions in the First Order that will destroy it from within.

I wonder if the Resistance will take their chances with DJ again now that they're looking to the pirates and smugglers of the galaxy for allies. I know they're going to have to deal with not only the First Order, but also the Knights of Ren and Palpatine himself. They need all the help they can get!

I also figured there were other Resistance cells (and perhaps remnants of the Republic) in other parts of the Galaxy. There could be many reasons why they didn't come running when the Resistance called for help on Crait. I think this because of Snap Wexley and Jessika Pava, two X-Wing pilots who were neither in Ep. 8 and presumed to be alive (and likely show up in Ep. 9).

If Snap & Jess were elsewhere doing (presumably Resistance-based stuff) then the guys we were following throughout Ep. 8 were not the lone Resistance (though probably the main one). There's others out there.

I still can't get over how adorably funny LEGO-D.J.'s expression is. So drunk, dopey and content.
