The digital fan art of Akemi Homura, the character from Puella Magi Madoka Magica. One of my favorite anime of all time.Heh, it just took me a months to finish it... but I'm kinda satisfacted of the way it looks.Β

As a fellow fan of the series, I think I can say you did a lot right with this. That cold, dead look in her eyes, the uncertain line of light and darkness, the physical weight of her clothes, the tilted and spotted background giving the idea of a whimsical witch domain β I especially like how the shadow on the ground is her past self, with the gun in her hand pointed at that innocent self she's had to destroy. Also if I look closer the crystal on her hand looks ready to break.
But while I'm looking close, a few things do look strange. The fingers of her left hand look more like nubs than the clenched knuckles of a fist. The fingers of her right hand look great, which makes me think you need to put as much practice into your βhands in fistsβ as you have into βhands holding guns.β And her shadow's hand holding the gun seems a little odd, as if the weapon is slightly above her grip there. Plus would her past self even be holding a gun with the same confidence? Heck, you could go a little deeper into her character by having the shadow hand's fingers simply out (without a gun) as if to reach or grasp someone.
Vision: Homura, the girl who had to kill her past self to move forward.
Originality: I mean it's fanart but I like what you've done with it.
Technique: Only the most minor of issues.
Impact: I was drawn in by her eyes, but it's where the gun is pointing that blew my mind.

Love the coloring. Maybe try to make the skirt a bit more fluffy but the details (pistol and shield) are great!
