Thanks! Ive come across them a few times since and I'm now beginning to realise just how difficult they are to catch. You wouldn't believe how many blurry, cluttered shots I'm getting!

Yeah I know what you mean, I have loads of blurry, cluttered shots too.
This shots good, very nice flow.
Great movement in the wings.

I came across two 2 days ago in a plant research station. Took a load of photos, not one worth keeping. Really a shame cos the flowers they were buzzing around would have made a stunning backdrop. I also saw them both resting, and they looked really boring... just like plain brown.... moths. And yet when they fly they are stunning.

I saw my first of these the other day in the UK, absolutely stunning the way they hover with their wings blurring. You've captured this one perfectly, amazing work

Thank you. I've only seen these twice, in the same place so possibly the same individual. Great to watch, he was there for ages but kept darting about so getting a half good shot was pretty difficult.

I can imagine that would be quite difficult, its always the issue I have with winged subjects You did a fantastic job with this shot though, bravo

We have those here! (USA) They're pretty big. I had no idea what it was the first time I saw one.
This is a beautiful picture.

Great capture; and an interesting feature for a moth.

Thank you. I was out again today and saw another in the same place. Haven't gone through the pics yet but hopefully there is something worth keeping.

I took loads of pictures, most didn't come out that well. He was moving just too fast. With this one I think I was lucky.

I know, they move around so much, it's difficult to get a decent shot. That's why it's such a wonderful capture, nice and clear and a pretty composition too. Not easy!

This one was also difficult because of the other flowers in the way all the time. I took loads of shots, always with other flowers in the foreground, or just too many blooms cluttering up the shot. Then I finally caught him on a slightly higher level with nothing in front or behind.
