They just need some alone time, to talk and bond and comfort each other.  They've both been through so much, and they have lots of insecurities that they could help each other with.

If Keith and Lance have another bonding moment, one that Lance will remember this time, it would probably go like this. At the end of the day they're both emotionally drained for different reasons. Lance over how oddly erratic Shiro's behavior has been, and Keith over the earth-shattering encounter with his mother. With no one else to really turn to they lay in bed together in comfortable silence.
