Like, take this one for example. Can you imagine playing a game where this is the basic attack animation? Where one is usually locked into the animation until it completes itself this feels like it would get old really quick. Just watch this to see what I'm getting at:

2:07-2:53 in particular, but I recommend watching the entire thing.
Anyway, I don't think it should take 17 frames to attack something unless it's going to be a very slowly paced game or you're really trying to sell the power of the move.

Of course this is still in the concept stage so maybe you're just getting all your ideas down before really nailing how it should all work and I'm just being a know-it-all jackass who can't keep his criticisms to himself.

first of all...I have seen that video...I do understand the conecpt of animation...

you are correct in a way but you have to ask yourself what kind of game this is...if you watch the animation video extra credits did on Monster hunter and showed off the great sword...how slow and clumsey that weapons basic attack is...this game has multiple forms each having multiple attack options to use...just because this basic attack is on the slow end dosent mean anything really...the best way I could exsplain it is...thin kfo Captain Falcons Falcon Punch attack in SUper smash brothers...that attacks takes forever and it is his basic attack,,,ut he has plent of other attacks that are much quicker...

Never said you didn't. You can clearly animate very well. I was more criticizing your game design sensibilities in this case. Even if there is no "game" yet and this sort of thing can be changed at literally any time, things early in development can ("can", not "do") have large cascading effects on the end product even if they do seem like trivialities at the moment.

Thus my bit about "really trying to sell the power of the move", which I guess you're going for so GJ. It might just have to do with my personal play-style since big heavy characters with achingly slow movements aren't my favorite to put it lightly. Like that episode Extra Credits did on Monster Hunter where he kept whiffing because the animation took so f***ing long. Jeez, I was so fed up by the tenth time it happened I wanted to reach into the screen and change his class for him.

I, uh... Never played more than a demo for Smash so I have no idea, but I was under the impression that was a charge move? Anyway, it doesn't matter much in Smash because he has other attacks he can use at any given time. I've not seen any other attacks in your works for the same form yet. Are those coming or can you switch between forms at any given time?
