So I promised earlier I would comment once I got the time. Looking at this makes me want to draw something with lots of clouds too. I think that the velcro sneakers are a nice attention to detail thing. Even though my original drawing only shows a limited view of the character, you did a great job of filling in the blanks in a way that elaborates the original concept. The cloudcycle itself seems like it's got a personality of its own. That front tire looks like it is so eager to go places that it can't conform to what the society expects a tire to look like. The metal and rubber textures are surprisingly identifiable as such even though it's highly stylized. I'm oddly geeking out about the part where the exhaust cloud splits in two to flow down the surface of the pipe. It makes me think of something in Porco Rosso. The texture on the tail light is also a nice finishing touch.
If I can nitpick about something, the wrinkles where the sleeve tapers into the cuff are bugging me because they sort of look like veins. I like the other sleeve more because it looks baggier. The zig zag pattern on the lenses also doesn't quite work. I remember when I was working on the original sketch of the character, I sensed that the zig zag thing was in a way very error-prone, so I remember being extra careful about it because I knew that I only had one chance to make it look the way that looks right (since it was marker on paper). I can tell that you used a fast stroke for yours and it doesn't convey the same effect. Of course, people have different preferences.

The wrinkles are a little bit I agree, easily fixable. I kind of like the zigzag on the goggles though, it's like oldschool feeling to me...but yeah it's all taste as you said.

Β Here's my half of the trade. This ended up going in a wayyyyy different direction than what I planned in my head! Towards the end, I started to worry that I might be overworking it and adding too many lines would do it a disservice. I hope I didn't nerf any critical white space. I had to pretty much tear myself away from it because the temptation to spend the whole night on it was very real.
