I'm doing a Haunted Food Alphabet series. This is a WIP of "C" - "Caper of Caprice"pencil sketch here!

Hello, Kikoe! I'm from Project Comment here to give some positive feedback.
I love how you made the expressions on each caper. It shows the different emotions that humans have and they're very clear here. The form that they're in (round circle/oval) and the various angles that each one is pointed (and yet they all are directed towards the ground) makes it fun to look at. It draws your eye from one caper to the next instead of one monotone view.
It's very interesting how you managed to use one basic color (green) for the whole picture. All you needed to use was the lights and the darks to determine the different objects and shapes. It keeps it simplistic and gives focus to the expressions. The flower in the background balances out the picture, gives it depth (with its lighter colors--showing that it's further in the background), color (even though I like the simplicity of just the green, having that blue in that corner appeals to my eye), and contrast and it doesn't take away from the picture.
Checking out your final picture and comparing the two, I actually like this one better. The other one has more variety in color and is more finished, but to me, the sketchy look of this drawing looks more realistic. The shading isn't fake-looking and it gives the impression of watercolors. I also think that the coloring in this picture has more accuracy to the color of real capers--light green.
I think the only things I would critique (and very minor critiquing at that) would be the lines that you applied on some of the objects. Like on the shocked caper, the lines could've been faded a little bit to make it look slightly less animated. Also on the flower. Just an in-between blue to smooth out the lighting.

Thank you so much for the feedback! I actually agree with you, the sketch is better - I got stuck and tired on refining it and I really didn't like the end result. I think I'll go back to fix it up again. It lost the loose feeling, natural as you put it.Β
And I forgot to add the eyeballs!! which is a travesty...lol.Β
Thanks for reminding me to do this as I had forgotten - doing the other letters now and it got left behind.Β

I really like your shading style. This image feels like something that I would find hanging in my grandmother's kitchen. She loooves pictures of spices and herbs!

Capers? They are small flower buds of a plant that are usually preserved and pickled in brin (salt water and spice) which makes them taste amazing. The bigger fruit things are what they become if you leave them on the plant longer, but they are also eaten in somewhat the same way - I've never had those
You put them in salad, on pizza, and that all I've seen lol...
