Description One of my classic and most popular drawings ever. This has been one of my bestsellers at conventions for years. The characters are, from left to right: Midori, a skunk, Himeko Kikuneko, a Birman cat, Yukiko, a snow leopard and Minami, a white cat. They are all characters from my Himeko magical girl story, conceived back in 1999 when I was still obsessed with Sailormoon, Card Captor Sakura, and other shoujo manga works. This story has inspired many pictures and almost a book for my illustration class. Some of the story is even written down

The kimono designs were amazing fun to do, so much that I made a sequel to this 2000 piece in 2004. The designs are really character specific. Midori's name means green and her theme is leaves, with a side of plaid. The gold leaves are gel pen. Himeko's theme colors are blue, purple, and white, and she's fun to draw with ladybugs, so there we go Yukiko is not magical (a muggle! hehe) and her colors are pink and purple, with a heart theme. Minami is a power water mage, and her colors are blue with hints of coral. They're all color-designed down to the shading in their eyes, so I'll have to look at their recipes if I want a new drawings to be consistent with the original 1999 designs. I used to just remember

I used Pigma Micron 005 for the inked outlines (I think, it's been a while), Prismacolor colored pencils for the color, lots of gel pen! for highlights and details, especially overlay. Done on white paper, a color I rarely use now. It's an older scan, so some of the subtle is gone.

Could you draw a short kimono, like KamiKaze Kaitou Jenean short, like a priestess look except with blue. You can add your own designs if you want to. Could you draw four, each same length, but each seperate corresponding with the elements? Like blue for water, half moons because the moon controls water. Green for earth, and tress or animals that correspond with the earth, maybe brown to. Or red, yellow, orange for fire, and add the sun designs and belts to it? then grey, white, light pink colors for Air and some wind designs like little swirls or something like that. You can add designs as long as they correspond with the elements. I'm sorry to make you busy if you do this.

Email me the drawing Lunarfall12@gmail.com It'd make my day, really.

There are so many details and pattern in this! I love all of their eyes (especially the far righthand one) and their hair! The second from left girls kimono is my favourite :3 (I did read the desc but I don't feel like leafing through it to find their names >>; I have such a bad memory for that..) I also really love the overall high-key and light bright feel to this :3 I also really like the second from righthands enthusiastic and animated expression-she looks so cute!

This piece was an absolute joy to design. I worked on it slowly over several days to think of the best patterns for each character and personality. I wanted all of them to be distinct, so I'm glad you found elements you like in all of them The patchwork and ladybugs on Himeko's kimono did turn out cute. I understand about the names, don't worry. Yukiko is the super happy one, and I'm glad that came across well. She's a very active and energetic girl, and some of my favorite high energy pieces are of her.

Thank you. I love doing complex designs, especially in clothing, so my characters tend to be well-dressed at the very least.

I'm actually hard at work... at work, but when I get off work I'll go and try to make progress on my design for your contest It's really fun to work on, but it's a been a while since I've done any kind of character sheet. I'm trying to balance interest and complexity, since the design has to be readable. Thank you for the motivation to try out a new character.

I love Yukiko's hair

The colouring is so intricate on absolutely everything, and i absolutely adore the water patterns on Minami's kimono.

Very well done!

Thank you. I love drawing curly hair, and making it lavendery makes it so much better. The coloring was so fun, but it did take a long time. The water pattern was so fun to design.
