I wanted to put up something a little different, at least emotionally speaking. This isn't one of my brand newest pieces, but it's one of the batch of second-brand newest, from my winter break in 2004. This is one of the pieces I finished for FC 2005.This is a taste of how my Pixiebunny Princess would feel if she loses her Birman bodyguard. Using just her pose and expression wasn't enough for the mood, so I changed her colors from the bright vibrant colors she usually wears, the ones you all just saw in the Queen of Clubs, to these broken gray tones. The wristband she is holding is the one that her bodyguard always wore, and it still has the emotional power to brighten the area around it.
I'm really pleased with the anatomy and the composition of this piece, but I'm most pleased with the mood I managed to convey.
I used Pigma Micron 005 for the inked outlines, Prismacolor colored pencils for the color, and white gel pen for highlights, on warm gray memory book paper. I scan the drawings into my computer, so that makes the colors a little smoother than they really are.

Thank you. This is one of my simplest and best pieces. It's really ironic to me that my Kimono Style II piece and this one are some of my most popular pieces, but they're so different in detail, color and mood. I love both of them, so I'm really happy they're popular. I'm really pleased with the gray shades. I was nervous when I started using that palette, but it worked great.

The emotion is amazing, how she's nude and all wrapped up in grey, with the tilt of the head, and the flash of hair. And personally I just love how the cloth covers her foot. I don't know why, I just do...

Thank you. I'm super happy with the fabric. It has sort of a shroud feeling to it. And being nude makes her more vunrenable and sincere, I think. I suspect she wouldn't be able to sleep. I'm really happy with the foot as well

This is .. gorgeous, and so very sad. You did a wonderful job portraying emotion here. I am actually saddened by looking at it. The mainly muted cool tones (other than her hair, which looks very angry and wild) really goes with the tone. Very nice. ANd easy +fave.

Thank you. I'm glad the mood worked well for you. Hum, no that you mention it, her hair does seem more angry against the gray. She's not a violent person, but she might make an exception for whoever killed her partner.

Thank you. When I was learning to draw folds I was really into Sailormoon and CLAMP's Magic Knight Rayearth. They have so many long cloaks and ruffles and skirts and such that I had a lot to work from. And I'm obsessed with fabric in general, so I've had lots of practice drawing it

Thank you so much. This has some of the nicest fabric I've ever done. I was scared to ink it, because I was worried I might make the folds stiff and unnatural. I love the way her hair flows, and that's part of the reason why I return to this character again and again. She composed so well.
