At least from I understand, The Wii U is an innovative console that pretty much acts like a GIANT DS (OOOOOOOOOOOO)
At least thats how I saw it.
Of course the only thing they actually showed off was the controller, because the controller is the "STAR". But all stars have something to back it up, and thats the console. A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT of people thought that the console was actually the controller, but it's not XD
The console itself looks almost identical to the Wii, ALMOST, cuz it's like...round-ish XD [link]
But the strong points of the Wii U:
-It's finally in HD
-A LOT of third party companies that normally took pity on Nintendo and only worked with Xbox/Playstation are hopping aboard the Wii U train and will produce big titles for it.
-The ability to play your game without interruption
-The ability to play your game without interruption....IN HD. (cuz the controller is in HD)
-iPad has a scary competitor especially the two-way communication using an embedded microphone and camera
-The big possibilities for a new innovated way of gaming has opened.
I nearly passed out when I saw a tech-demo of what could be a possible Zelda game for the Wii U. I'VE NEVER SEEN A MANLY LINK IN HD ;A; AND IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. ;A;

new Wii console, that look like a white Xbox, but lying down on your shelf, with its controler that is just like a big SEGA (before the cool grey Game Boy get ouuuut), and this controler will work by acting like a DS? Your TV is the up screen and the controler, the other screen?
HD, HD, HD... *don't care much about this though*, everything is in HD now =/ I'm feeling like the old school, because, we don't have internet nor TV at home XD so I'm less fond on 'I NEED ELECTRONIC CRAP!', maybe it doesn't help me much about E3 stuff... Hum...

LOL yes, HD can be unwanted for many people. But I think it's a big turn for Nintendo. Actually this blueprint spec is what they needed all along. It's not only the detail, because frankly, Nintendo wouldn't want their favorite italian plumber to look all real and facial hair herbal essence, but the colors can now expand and environments can feel more in depth.
I'm currently playing Twilight Princess again, and one thing I always loved to mock was the sticker-like textures they put on a cliff, or a door or trees or temples. The game itself lacked a lot of that feeling but I still love it.
Nintendo would never change it's style. But it's gonna open more doors to appeal to a larger audience. Cause in this day of age, having a Wii meant that you would feel incompetent to other people with Xboxs and PS3s(But thats stupid cuz I didnt give a shit what other people think about the Wii/DS cuz Im a kid at heart). But Nintendo can get the last laugh now with the Wii U and it's fun new way to play.
Thats why the Director said "The Wii was meant for "How we want to play" but the Wii U is "How you want to play it" And trust me, the best news thing about it, is that it will be able to use the wiimotes and the other Wii gadgets because of it's backwards compatible with the Wii and it's titles so the love for the Wii would never die.
BUT YEAH, I STILL THINK MY NES CAN BEAT ALL THESE NEW GIZMOS AND GADGET ANY DAY OF THE WEEK -shoves an NES in someones face for no reason- -OLDSCHOOL-

OLD SCHOOL IS ABOUT TO PUT 2 AA BATTERY IN YOUR GAME BOY POCKET, AND PLAY POKEMON RED. YES.
But yeah, seems more or like GIZMO, TECHNO CRAP, [OTHER THINGS IN CAPS], but it doesn't much suprise me, because, now, each of the 3 compagny goes with 'we'll do the more technological stuff has possible!'. I'm still waiting for googles that goes on my face to me (.hack// style) and that aren't dangerous or anything (no nausea, or anything), with great games. Just like, now people just want HD stuff, and the more gizmo has possible to extend their game play and so go on. Your NES was enough back there and is still enough on the sides now...
But yeah, Nintendo = for kids, Sony = for RPG gamers and Xbox = sick in the head people that I have money to throw by the window. Nintendo, going for a more mature audience? Hum... I'm still wondering about that... Sony and their Playstations are moe likly on that... And Xbox? Still wonder what's fun on this... Will they really get into WOW WTF HD graphics + mature audience games? (talking about guns, and stuff, more then Resident evil stuff and etc...).
Blabla, but still, gadget will get out and another one will follow, no? XD

Nintendo really needed an upgrade overall, the Wii is a legacy of it's own now, the Wii U is gonna try to continue that and actually add more pressure to the competition. The competition will probably mock it and say things like "You copied us" when in reality, they copied Nintendo all along.
