Description
Hohoo what is this, lineless art from me??But yes I've been experimenting with new styles and I'm actually quite pleased with how this turned out.
I've also been neglecting my broodmares so here's Verge out in the mare's pasture.
On the other hand I really need to sort out my stable's storyline because it's an absolute mess....
I've been considering stabling all my dirt racers in North America but don't actually have a stable set up there soooo I was wondering if any North American based stable would be willing to lease a some stalls? I'd love to draw our horses training together then! Feel free to note me if you're interested! ^^
Also there will be a small dispersal sale coming up through which I'll be departing from a few of my beloved ponies so keep an eye out!
That being said I will be introducing some new studs and expanding my broodmare band, but most future foals will be sold as I already have too many.
------------------
There had been silence around the farm for the past few months. Even on the track there were few horses that ran for Mullura Stud. It was as if the small stud had started off well, perhaps too well, and when they least expected it the problems started coming.
For starters they only had a handful of green two year olds, one three year old and two five year olds as their racing string. Albeit sucessful those racers were, age was catching up to the two older mares, and the staff knew they were going to have to reconsider if they would run next season.
Taizai still seemed to be in great condition. There was no trace of her injury, and after placing in her last GII race she seemed more than capable of running another season.
Inclined on the other hand was becoming noticeably slower. She'd had 4 months off after her last race, but even during training her times were increasing. Whilst no concrete decision had been made yet, it was clear that she'd be retired soon. Despite having racked an immpressive $1.4 million in prize money, she seemed to have gained little recognition from other stables and breeders. But the staff certainly didn't mind. It reassured them that the red mare would stay at Mullura Stud as a broodmare and wouldn't be sold off for more money.
But then again money was what the stud greatly lacked. They'd always just gotten by thrugh stud fees and some prize money, and when Disillusioned was nominated for the Kentucky Derby things seemed to be running smoothly. But the $50,000 entry fee in addition to all the travel costs seemed to be too much. They let it slide without a word to the public. The horse simply didn't show up and that was that. In fact, he hadn't been heard of since.
Since then the stud had kept a low profile. They'd saved up a considerable amount through sales and breeding fees, and they were preparing well for the coming season. The two and three year olds were coming along nicely, and they were even awaiting the arrival of two new fillies.
--------------------
Richard, the stud owner, strolled leisurely over to the broodmare's pasture and watched the mares enjoy the lush grass.
"Fine day isn't it?" said a bright voice behind him. Richard turned around and warmly greeted the stable hand.
"They're getting along well aren't they?" he asked with a glance at two of the mares.
"Hmm yeah" Oliver chuckled, "I'm surprised Hex hasn't picked a fight with Verge yet. Seems like that old mare's still got some authority over the young ones."
Richard smiled, "But when we put Inclined in with them I think we'd have to make two herds. There's no way that spitfire isn't going to be the alpha mare" he said.
Oliver nodded in agreement. "It's about time we retired her, she'll be six perhaps seven when she has her first foal, that seems about right" he added.
"Well I'm sure the jockeys will be relieved" Oliver laughed "she gave them such a hard time in the mounting yards."
"Oh do I have news for them then" Richard grinned. "The two filly's we're getting...apparently they're both quite temperamental".
Oliver sighed and slumped onto the pasture fence "Oh why have you always got to do this to us" he muttered.
"Huh you'll take that back once you find out whom one of them is a sibling to" Richard grinned and leaned against the fence.
Suddenly he'd caught Oliver's interest. "Well come on spit it out" he pleaded.
"Half sibling to....a Kentucky Derby Winner" he uttered proudly.
"Sheesh Richard..." Oliver glanced up at him "you're kidding right? Where'd you even rack up the money to buy her?" he asked.
"Her dam caught my eye way before the colt won the derby. So I booked her a few years back and here we are with a filly of our own" he explained.
"Guess we got lucky, huh?" Oliver couldn't believe his ears. "What about the other filly? Is she just as impressive?" he asked.
"I'm really not sure. She's got some good horses in her pedigree but it's a bit of a long shot. We'll see how she does." Richard said.

Aww <3 This is gorgeous, and if Mullura Stud needs some stalls FHF has more than a few they can use. ^_^ Plus a training track and tons of other ways to exercise at the farm in Kentucky. Super excited to see your new foalies, and will definitely keep an eye out on that dispersal!

Thank you so much!
And I've noted you about the stabling, I'd love to keep some racers at your farm!
