You know what, I like italian "Carnevale" more than fucking Christmas. As an adult it kinda lost the magic, Carnevale instead is still a lot of fun and excess.
It's a huge costume party, the best way to describe it is Topsy Turvy Day from The Hunchback of Notre Dame meets Halloween.
Since Halloween isn't as huge of a thing here as it is in America, this is THE costumed festival of Italy. You put on a costume and have fun with parades that have floats and confetti being thrown everywhere, Venice has the fanciest parades and costumes.

And along that, come all the fatty foods. Panettoni and Pandoro's completely lost their taste to me, I don't eat them anymore in years (another thing that just makes Christmas "meh" to me nowadays) but the food that you eat during Carnevale season? ...Hell to the Yes.
Frittelle's are kinda like buñuelos, they're fried dough balls that are sprinkled with powdered sugar and filled entirely with pastry cream. There's also those filled with fucking Nutella, and we get both kinds and I eat two together... Oh, man, just... THIS is the most gluttonous time of the year for me and I love it.

If I'll ever leave this country, Carnevale I'd miss the most.
