Located around an aging F type star in the Norma Arm, Seguiry is a small, barley habitable planet that is the homeworld of the reclusive Gafomit Star Regime. The second planet in orbit, it lies just inside the inner habitable zone of the star Anpinda, exposing it to high levels of heat and radiation; one year lasts 250 days (101 local days, with one day being 59 hours long), and is itself orbited by a small, red moon called Vandumik.
Sequiry is a small planet, not much larger than Mars at 7574 kilometers diameter (Mars, for reference, is 6792 kilometers in diameter), with a mass on just over a quarter Earth (0.272) and 0.77 surface gravity. Its small size has led to its interior heat diminishing far below what is needed for an active geology, and even the close orbiting moon is not enough to keep its magnetosphere active- with its proximity to the star, Seguiry is slowly stripped of both its atmosphere and hydrosphere, and in turn the native biosphere as well. Most life has retreated deep underground in the dormant lava tubes and calderas that crisscross the planet's interior, and is well adapted to life in a low pressure environment.
The planet, despite being relatively young, is surprisingly home to a sapient species, perhaps as a result of the extreme conditions requiring extreme adaptations and accelerated evolution. The gafomit live in the deep caverns near large aquifers where their primary food source, an incredibly resilient algae, grows (despite the gafomit growing it in water, the algae is capable of surviving for decades in some of the driest environments and still be able to grow afterwards). Uplifted by one of the long lived Mundac from nearby Maketa, the gafomit have been spacefaring for nearly six millennia, although they have remained confined to a very small region of space and rarely venture far from it. The authoritarian Star Regime of the gafomit is a socialist dictatorship which governs most aspects of its citizens daily lives, with a carefully planned out economy and a slow colonization of a few planets in their space. Seguiry has been slowly and deliberately depopulated for centuries, as it continues to lose its atmosphere and will soon become unable to maintain any kind of carbon base ecology. In this regard, the remaining population has been hard at work to strip mine every usable resource from the planet for the eventual last exodus.
