I think we got ourselves a new Death Battle... Nah, Godzilla pwns based on radioactive breath if nothing else.
People can take one look at "Gorgo" and probably immediately think "Godzilla", but the plotline is really more of a ripoff of the original "Mothra". (Maybe that's why Toho couldn't sue for copyright infringement...it's technically a combination of two kaiju movies.) In both movies, the military seems to think it's worth committing millions of dollars in military resources and sacrificing thousands of lives to protect the financial interests of a couple of dudes.
At any rate, neat idea. Maybe in a future "Final Wars 2"...

I should totally write a story for this concept! I think I will if nobody minds.

Mamma Gorgo is more impervious, bigger, and stronger. Momma Gorgo walked through 4 million volts of electricity, while Godzilla was stalled and halted by merely thousands of volts in both the original movie and again in "Godzilla vs the Thing." Godzilla had to burn down the voltage towers which contained only thousands of volts while Gorgo walked though millions of volts without the aid of atomic breath! Gorgo is immune to fire and all other weapons, so atomic breath would be shrugged off. Plus she is bigger, has far larger arms, hands, and huge claws. Not to mention her huge head, jaws and teeth, which are twice the size of Godzy's. I love them both, but I gotta be reaL...there's no match here!

How can there be no match here & how many times do I have to repeat this?! Godzilla of the 1970s has fought monsters which are around the mother Gorgo's height the Heisei & the Final wars versions of Godzilla are even bigger than the height!!!

Godzilla has random effects with electricity, sometimes its a weakness, sometimes it makes his atomic breath stronger. You obviously haven't seen all of Godzilla's movies, otherwise you would know that Godzilla has fought monsters bigger then him before. Biollante is 120 meters so she towers over Gorgo and Godzilla, her jaws are like 4 times bigger then Godzilla and Gorgo, and he still fought her at close range, if Gorgo were to face Biollante, Biollante would easily maul Gorgo. Godzilla's hide is high durability, armor piercing missiles can't pierce his hide, he was bombarded by crystals from Spacegodzilla, and Godzilla took 2 hits from Destroyahs horn Katana, and lived, so Godzilla would take whatever Gorgo threw at him and get back up. Godzilla also has other powerful breath attacks, like the Hyper Spiral Ray, if it can destroy Kiezer Ghidorah it can destroy Gorgo as well. You also don't seem to know about Godzilla's powerful healing ability, his cells regenerate so fast, its like he never even got the wound. Godzilla has also faced and defeated monsters more powerful then himself, like Kiezer Ghidorah. There is no match here, Godzilla would wipe the floor with Gorgo.

Mother Gorgo is too big for Godzilla. Before they even see her, the professors describe her as being "200' tall ...at the very least" -no upper limit is mentioned!
She rivals Big Ben in height, which is 316 feet. In the final scenes, she places her foot in the circus ring and the baby is literally up to her ankle, making her at least 500' tall. The baby then (temporarily) seems larger in the sideview as they walk back to the sea, and then it is up to her ankle again in the final shot of both creatures from the rear. This brief size discrepancy dring the sideview is probably due to the limited special effects possible in the 60's. But clearly, the director's intention is that the baby is up to the mother's ankle. Also, if Godzilla has grown since the 60's, imagine how tall Mama Gorgo must be by now! Reptiles never cease growing!

Also Godzilla of the 1970s has fought monsters around the Mother Gorgo's height which is 200ft tall!

Depends on which incarnation of Godzilla she's fighting, in this pic she's fighting 90's Godzilla who is 100 meters, which is taller then her. She's not 500 feet tall, Big Ben is around 316-320 feet, 90's Godzilla is 334 feet tall.

Check ebay. I've found them on there for like $15 because of their age. I have been able to occassionally find them at conventions for less, too.

Funny thought for that common foe: perhaps the black-hole apes and the Xians decide to join forces, and kidnap the Gs' respective kids for cell-samples to clone an Unstoppable Kaiju-Army(TM). As such, Goji & Gorgo end up tag-teaming against Ghidorah, Mechagodzilla and a great honking saucer-armada. How's THAT for a quadruple-bill?

A couple things that stand out for me here:
*spiffy work on the toppling skyscrapers & dust clouds.
*equally spiffy Godzilla rendition, which adds functional-looking arms to the better elements of the Heisei-era suit(s). If I were duking it out against Gorgo's meathooks, I'd want a bit of reach too.
*Gorgo's snarling double-take: "Hang on, this bugger's spittin' fire?? Bloody hell!"
One last pointless note about the actual brawl: the way I perceive things, Godzilla's regen may give him a fair shot at outlasting otherwise equal foes, but (a) since it's dependent on his atomic reserves, will shut down given enough punishment and (b) would NOT keep him from gettin' cold-cocked/TKO'ed, especially if an enemy focused enough blunt trauma on his brain. Kinda like the Hulk making Wolverine horribly punch-drunk midway through Marvel's "World War Hulk" uber-event.

Thanks for the comments. As far as the brawl goes, i would agree. i think some other force would put them on the same side, be it the JSDF or another monster... hmm. Still, i would never, ever mess with a pissed off mom no matter how badass i was.

In the comic book Gorgo and his mother are immune to nuclear missile and radioactivity . She even chew a nuclear missile that exploded in her mouth and the explosion only destroy two of her teeth , which rejuvenated instantaneously ...
The Gorgos seems to have a real quick healing factor in the same vein as what Orga from Godzilla 2000 have so maybe they can survive Godzilla's ray ....however they have no weapon to hurt Big G .

...and does it matter, really? many battles are just fought with monster thrashing about. just because neither monster can effectively "hurt" one another doesn't mean their wouldn't be a fight. they would just pummel each other until some new threat or something forced them to join sides against a common foe, i.e. godzilla and rodan.
with the posters i'm thinking in a purely kaiju-like movie sequence. they'd throw either other around, inflict wounds, knock over buildings until something else either threatened them or forced them to stop. what that "thing" could be is entirely up to whatever you want, but i would still give my drawing arm to see a well done fight between the two (with no obvious victor.)

If your idea is having no victor effectively that doesn't matter .

yeah, some might not really care to see a movie with no clear victor, but i think that would be the best route for critters like these.
oh well, it'll still probably never happen in our lifetimes anyhow.

cool, If this is a real fight, My money is on Godzilla, he's stronger, tougher, and can actually fight at a distance. Funny thought, Gorgo is definately female, Godzilla is more than hinted at being male, both are big dinosaurs, just think about that for a second.

EVERYONE will put thier money on godzilla. he has the fame as well as the rediculous powers. in true 1960's fashion, however they would collide in a royal beat em' up, with no real victor. i realize how strong our japanese friend is, but remember Gorgo shows to be just as impervious as him, and she's an angry momma protecting her offspring. i think the actually fight would be much like godzilla and rodan in ghidorah the 3 headed monster.
