Wow, what a lovely picture!
I would have added critique if I were a member, but I'll just do it in comment.

I think the white background complemented the picture. Most of the time, white backgrounds make things feel empty, which worked great in this piece.

Also, the puddle was a nice touch. It really gives off the wet and miserable vibe. I also think the tremble marks were good as well, giving the idea that he's cold and alone.

Overall, it's a lovely picture.

The emotion that radiates odd this piece is excellent, I just want to reach into internetland and give him a hug.
Great use of space, it really emphisise (sp?) his saddness and lonely-ness. and the textures just makes the whole thing yummy!
