Well I guess maybe because Azur Lane is actively collaborating with other media. Hyperdimension Neptunia, Kizuna Ai to name a few. Also they are more aggressive in terms of advertising plus Azur Lane gameplay isn't so punishing if you fuck up. A girl gets sunk in Kancolle? Kiss that girl goodbye. A girl sinks in Azur lane? She won't disappear but she will get annoyed with you.

Ahh i see what you mean. Good points. It’s the reason I’ve come to like Azur lane myself. That plus there’s a ton of US ships in their roster hehe.
