Description
Here's my part of the art trade with , sorry for the wait!Yeah, so apparently Wales told England and Northern Ireland to come to the Stonehenge on Halloween, telling them there was something important that they had to see. Little do England and Northern Ireland know that they're stumbling right into a trap where they'll be scared out of their skin.
Well, I have hidden in the picture a few references:
-It's Halloween, the day in which the division between this world and the Otherworld vanish.
- It's also dusk, thus increasing your chances of meeting creatures of the Otherworld. (and some of them can be quite dangerous) (I tried to make it like dusk, sorry if I failed
-The reason why Scotland's, Ireland's and Wales' eyes are glowing like this is because Stonehenge is closely associated with the Otherworld and so magic is very thick in the air. And seeing as Scotland just activated a spell, the magic within the brothers has become activated.
- If you can see, Scotland is holding an apple. (yeah, I failed on that) The apple is quite special as it came from a strange island and if you take a bite out of it, you grow deer antlers on your head. (the theme of growing deer antlers is very prominent in Scottish tales, thus this seemed fitting) Ireland and Wales will pull the heads of their animal skins lower so that their faces won't be recognizeable. Once enough light has gone, the three brothers will pounce out and scare their younger brothers out of their wits.
... The Celtic nations love messing about.

Aww, a shame you guys didn't manage to get onto it.
Nanashi? Don't think I've ever heard of it... is it a convention? Sadly I'll have two more exams next week so I'll need the weekend to study. Have there been any talks on organising another Hetalia meeting soon or is everyone very busy lately?

Hmm, well I have heard some stories of how some cosplay meets went rather sour, though I'll still keep a fond memory of the first cosplay meet I went to as I don't think that one went too badly. Actually a friend of mine whom I've been trying to introduce into Hetalia told me about a week ago that he did see a group of people cosplaying and he was certain they were from Hetalia as there were two girls wearing an Iceland cosplay. As an Icelander, he immediately recognized the Hetalia Icelands.
Alright, you've got me quite intrigued about this Nanashi. I'll give it a try then. ^^

if you do decide to go to Nanashi, there will be a meet beforehand, meeting in Central at about 12/12.30
we usually muck about for a few hours beforehand, then go to Nanashi later. but bring money for food and whatnot. most likely, we'll split the group when it comes to eating. and Nanashi is £4 if you're cosplaying, £5 if you arent. (i believe when we split for food, the group i'll be in will be heading to Ichiban.)
if you decide to go, just look for folk gathering at the tie rack in Central. or a pikachu cosplayer (myself)

Celtic pranks are epic! The fog effect in this picture's really good, and the way you incorporated the scottish tales into this picture's really good as well!

Indeed they are! I also adore Celtic curses, such as "May the kitten be the death of you". Thank you so much, that was my first time of drawing fog so I was quite pleased with the effect. Incorporating interesting stuff into pictures is really fun, might do it more often!

Haha! Yeah, that's a great curse. I could imagine Arthur using that in the actual anime! (I recently got season 1, and he has a "curse of the leek"!)
It's your first time drawing fog? Wow! Kudos to you, you pulled it off really well! I agree, it's always fun to try new effects in pictures.
Keep up the awesome work!

Most probably, I have a lot more (Irish!) curses up my sleeves and I can imagine that England would use them. Curse of the leek isn't a recognizeable curse to me but it might be connected to Wales because the leek is one of his national emblems. I think the most interesting curse I have ever come across though is that one that would cause yearly all the men of Ulster to go into labour and their labour pains would last 4 days and 5 nights. (a bit mean, but the idea is intriguing nonetheless. Might even draw it out one day)
Thanks, I love trying out new effects and seeing how far my skills go. Somehow I like the feeling that there is still room for improvement and I haven't reached the horizon of my skills yet.

Well, the curse isn't real, but it was funny nonetheless. I checked out the info after watching the episode, and yes, it was connected because of the relation to the Welsh emblem. That curse is a wierd one... You have to wonder what type of person could think of a curse like that!

Ah, that is an interesting tidbit I didn't know about! Wait, Himaruya wrote that punchline with "curse of the leek", right? So he's been vaguely implying his brothers through smybolism like birds and leeks...
Well, the curse isn't that weird once you know the whole story. To tell it shortly, an Otherworld woman who was heavily pregnant was forced to race the horses of the king of Ulster and while she did win, she went into labour and gave birth to twins. She was so angry and in pain that she cast that curse over the whole kingdom. Not only that, she specified that the curse would last 9 generations.

Well, yes, and He's also had England at least make reference to Scotland as his older brother! It's great when you find these things out, although no mention of Ireland has really come up yet.
Wow, interesting story. I only know welsh and the general assortment of fairytales, so to read that one was pretty cool.

I actually hope that it takes a long time for Himaruya to bring forth the canon versions of England's brothers, I fear I've grown very attached to my own versions.
Here's the story if you want to read it: [link] The site is rich in various Celtic literature.

Ah! Thank you, that was a very good website.
Well, the design for Scotland's been out for a while, but there's been no word of the others, and you have a lot of OCs relating to the different backgrounds of the British, so your OCs should be fine for a long time to come!

You're very welcome!
I don't think there is an official design of Scotland yet, when Himaruya was asked how Scotland would look like, he did a vague sketch of a chibi head with hair but he kept the face blank. So there is no certainty yet, though it looks like the canon Scotland will bear some physical similarity to the pixiv Scotland due to his ridiculous popularity. Aww thanks! However I have come to the decision that one day I'll return to my old series of country embodiments that I had prior to discovering Hetalia and I might continue to deal with both Hetalia and my series at the same time. My own series will certainly never be as good as Hetalia and SATW, but it will benefit from not having crazy fans pairing every country together for steaming yaoi.

Mm, I thought there was... I might be mistaken.
You have a series of countries yourself? That's cool! I'd love to see some of your art for them, and I agree, some of the pairings make me wonder what on earth the person was thinking when they chose them!

Kimanda In reply to Kattkins [2012-04-25 00:27:04 +0000 UTC]
Actually, I had two. One of them was absolutely horrible, all the countries were lions and I sometimes tried incorporating their flags (or just colours) into their markings. That, and I decided their age based on their geographical size rather than their history or culture. The other series had humans but I was so disgusted by my inability to draw humans that I gave up on it. Admittedly it was a bit better but I still left it when I saw Hetalia as it saved me the pains of trying to come up with my own designs. The lion series was called firstly "country lions" but was later changed to "Leonatio". The other series was called "Natiortha". I might draw out some of the them if you want to. I have a few Leonatio sketches saved on my computer but I fear that some, if not all, of my Natiortha pictures were thrown away because I was disgusted with my skills.
