Going to -ahem- take a stab at STAB
I've realized my trainers have lacked any sufficient motivation or development so far which is a weakness in these OCTs it seems. So I've constructed Lyn, a woman going completely out of her element with a purpose.
I started doodling Lyn a few weeks ago in class and just loved her too much to not use her for something. And I just couldn't help making her work at a cosplay cafe (drawing her Pokemon outfits is so much fun )

I'm also trying to stray away from the anime-style of drawing people and go for a mix between western and anime styles. It's hard. But I'm making slow progress. I think I prefer drawing normal-proportioned/shaped people more than anime proportioned anyway.

don't mind the way too long right arm and weirdly-facing legs (which are totally possible, just not comfortable to do) on Lyn and weird glaceon proportions. i didn't see them until i finished and am too lazy to change them (they'retotallystylized lololol)

Personality: At worst she is a manipulative, flirty woman. At best she is a peppy, flirty woman. Not one to anger often or easily, she'll start flinging sarcastic remarks back at those who provoke her. Generally, she's a happy person who loves what she does. She's not quite a ditz but can come off as being one from time to time.

History: Born and raised in Castelia City. Lyn is from a middle class family with nothing special to their name. There were only one or two Pokemon roaming about their apartment home every-so-often, mostly to help her parents with work or help around the house when things got busy for everyone.

As a part-time job after graduating highschool Lyn applied for a job at a nearby Pokemon cosplay cafe. And was denied. Over the next few months she kept trying and trying. The problem? To work at this particular cafe you need to own six Pokemon following certain guidelines; A water-type, a cute Pokemon, an Eeveelution, a starter Pokemon (or evolution), and two Pokemon of choice. And no one could have the same Pokemon (Eeveelutions excluded). Which is what the problem was. Along with being unable to choose a choice Pokemon.
So Lyn set off across Unova in search for Pokemon. Slowly but surely she caught, traded, and bought Pokemon until she had assembled a team of six. By the time she had returned, she even had evolved a few of the Pokemon.
Applying to the cafe once more, she was finally hired (mostly due to a few people quitting and the needed extra staff). She currently enjoys working as a maid at the cafe and especially loves wearing the Pokemon costumes which are based on one's team.
Recently, she has begun showing an interest in visiting other regions and happened upon information about Holon Island...

Extra - Her favorite outfit is her Scolipede one. She dislikes cheese. She is a flirt and (usually) not ashamed of it. She loves shopping. She is allergic to Venonat and Venomoth (the dust particles they release) but takes medication for her allergies (this allows her to stay around these types of Pokemon for a few short hours at a time).

By some random family connection she is related-ish to the van Schwansteins (Gertrude and Johan). She has two twin brothers a year older than her, Zim (a businessman at a talent agency) and Tim (a train station worker in the north).

Lyn isn't particularly used to the great outdoors or training Pokemon. She knows enough to get by though and depends on her Pokemon to know what to do. She hasn't spend too much time with her team (compared to other trainers) so she's still getting to know their personalities.

The cafe Lyn works at is called "The King's Rock". It's one of the more popular costume cafes in Castelia and one of the most difficult to become employed at. It recently had more than a few employees leave for other work ventures and is starting to slip in it's revenue intake. Lyn hopes that she can get the cafe's name out there while participating in this tournament on Holon Island.

Hold Item: SilverPowder (makes Scolipede's shell shine with a slight silvery color when in brighter light (like da sun))
Battle Style: Scolipede tosses his weight around with outstanding speed (for a bug-type). His favorite combo is letting his opponents hit him first in an attempt to poison them first then use whatever combination of moves necessary. As Scolipedes go, he also does not stop fighting until his opponent (or himself) is defeated.
Moves: Steamroller, Venoshock, Bulldoze, Screech, Rock Slide
Other Info: Vir is Lyn's signature Pokemon. Vir was caught as a Venipede when Lyn visited the southern forests of Unova. Not liking many Pokemon she encountered, Lyn fell in love with the color and patterns on Venipede and caught one as soon as she could.
Vir loves boobies. He is a gigantic pervert that Lyn cannot keep completely in line. He'll smoosh his buggy head into girls' chests and stay there until pushed or beaten away, which is sometimes a problem due to the many poisonous claws lining his body. But he has standards and only nice chests will do.
He enjoys battling and crushing things. Vir's favorite food stuffs are smaller Pokemon and tries to get a nibble in on Pebbles here and there (more as a joke but Pebbles is too young to understand that). Otherwise, this Scolipede is pretty chill for its species type.

Name: Monsieur Cuddles
Species: Octillery
Sex: Male
Ability: Suction Cups & Sniper
Nature: Clingy (literally and personality-wise)
Hold Item: None
Battle Style: On land, he stays in place and fires from a distance. If the opponents gets too close he tries to latch on and won't let go. In these close combat situations he'll just end up trying to smother his foe with eight suction cup-lined tentacles.
When in the water, Cuddles will latch himself onto rocks and slide in and out of crevices with ease. He'll be more likely to try and move at his opponents when in the water and grab them and use the same smothering technique.
Moves: Octazooka, Ice Beam, Flamethrower, Energy Ball, Supersonic
Other Info: Cuddles was one of Lyn's Pokemon obtained through trading and breeding. Lyn came into contact with a breeder who was specializing in water-type Pokemon and had a few extra Remoraid. They came to an agreement and eventually Lyn was given a Pokemon egg which later hatched into a Remoraid.
Lyn, being the uninformed trainer she is, didn't realize the adorable little fish Pokemon would evolve into a giant octopus. Cuddles, who often wished to be able to hug Lyn like he had seen her other Pokemon do, was finally able to do so after evolving, much to Lyn's dismay. Cuddles doesn't seem to realize that his hugging is about as crushing as his attacks and it's quite difficult to detach his suction cup tentacles from human skin.
M. Cuddles likes floating in the water and letting it carry him around. He doesn't care much for Virnige and the two often take up wrestling each other. So far Cuddles has won 45 or the 62 wrestling matches they have had.
When not in the water, he watches cooking shows on TV.

Ability: Snow Cloak & Ice Body
Nature: Mean
Hold Item: NeverMeltIce ( placed on his head crest and absorbed into it)
Battle Style: His technique involves making sure his foes can't see him or touch him then attacks from both long and close ranges. He trips over his own feet a lot though.
Moves: Mirror Coat, Frost Breath, Shadow Ball, Hail, Double Team
Other Info: Eevee aren't native to Unova as Lyn found out quite quickly and had to enlist the help of a network of trainers and breeders to find someone who even had an Eeveelution or Eevee. She found a really sketchy dude who offered her a Glaceon. She bought Dewdrop for too much but at least she had an Eeveelution.
Dewdrop arrived to Lyn with his name and he doesn't really appreciate it staying (Lyn thought it was too cute to change). He's pretty disgruntled all of the time and doesn't take pleasure in doing anything. Battling is a way to vent his frustrations and picks fights often. He's quick on his feet but also trips a lot making him even more upset.
If you try and pet him because he's a kawaiidesu Eeveelution he'll bite you. That is if his growling doesn't indicate you shouldn't pet him beforehand.

Species: Sandshrew
Sex: Female
Ability: Sand Veil & Sand Rush
Nature: Frightened of everything
Hold Item: Polkadot Bow (worn sometimes, mainly as a decoration. It's a white bow with pink and yellow dots all over it)
Battle Style: Pebbles is still very young and doesn't have a particular way of battling yet. She tries to attack and ends up failing lots.
Moves: Poison Sting, Sand Attack, Defense Curl, Scratch, Metal Claw
Other Info: One of the newer team members, Pebbles is a very young Sandshrew. On her way back to Castelia, Lyn passed by the desert route once more and found a Sandshrew wandering on the main road. Lyn's 'cute animal sense' tingled and she caught the Pokemon without hesitation.
Pebbles doesn't know how to battle very well and tries to rely on Lyn who also doesn't have much battle experience. Pebbles is also quite frightened of most things, especially Vir who she believes will eat her. She rolls up into a ball when frightened and cuddles with people and Pokemon that give off heat.

Species: Grovyle
Sex: Female
Ability: Overgrow & Unburden
Nature: Snobby
Hold Item: Rocky Helmet
Battle Style: Phrenn attacks fast and hard. She jumps around like she's trying to dance and moves in a smooth, elegant manner. One of her favorite, less elegant, tricks is using Fling to toss the rocky helmet she wears at foes.
Moves: Fling, Leaf Blade, Aerial Ace, Screech, Absorb
Other Info: Phrenn was an imported Pokemon up for grabs as a prize at a raffle in Castelia along with other Treecko. Phrenn seems to think herself as a lady and is very snobbish. She likes the finer things in life.
Phrenn's Rocky Helmet is a designer item made by one of Castelia's finest rock-jewelers (or at least that's what Lyn told her. It's really just a normal rock-helmet that has been spray-painted with a silvery coat of paint to make it look shinier).

Ability: Keen Eye & Sniper
Nature: Old-man-like
Hold Item: None
Battle Style: Do whatever it takes to win.
Moves: Drill Run, Substitute, Thief, Roost, Pluck
Other Info: One sunny day, Lyn came across a route infested with flying-type Pokemon. There was an amazingly colored, shiny, male Unfeazant. Using her current team of Vir and Cuddles she whittled the wild Pokemon's health down enough for a Pokeball to work. Somehow the Unfeazant was able to smack away the device and sent it launching into a tree where it caught something. Lyn ran over and picked up the ball and let out what she had unwillingly caught.
Quovv was one of the most unpleasant-looking Pokemon Lyn had ever seen. Sadly, this was the last ball she had to catch anything in and had to let Quovv stay.
This Fearow is old. He doesn't like kids. He doesn't like new things. And he's pretty mean. However, he does enjoy chowing down.
