Description
Finally I managed a colouring I was mostly happy with. I think.. the top half looks good, but sections of the bottom half just scream 'blah' to me. Probably because of the way the layout works, there's these damn block of blank space which you don't notice so much in the lineart. But when you go to colour it, they stick out like sore thumbsAnd so, I present from the top:
Sar
Of absolutely no relation to the disease SARS. She was named before that came along anyway ._.. I've drawn her maybe once before, although she plays a prominent role in the story. I think. Well, she should. There's three dieties in the fic; Athin, the large silver-blue moon, Kirin, the sun, and Sar, the smaller yellowish moon. Athin and Kirin were born of the desire of the Dream to experience Reality. Since it couldn't break from the Dream itself, being unable to visualise what lay beyond, it created Athin and Kirin, who were free to experience the Reality for themselves. From the eventual union of Athin and Kirin came Sar, the diety of Fate. Bah, I'll just copy and paste the second half of the Creationary story I wrote, since this might take a while to explain otherwise ._.:
"Being with Ath as they roamed the night together, Sar learned of Kir's loneliness, and did aspire to create for him something that would ease his isolation. And so did Sar, at the coming of day, weave the essence of her parents into a being that was capable of thought within the realms of dream and reality. Who could aspire to the far horizons, and so could comfort Kir in his loneliness. Born from darkness, they would live in the light. They would slumber in Ath's presence, and live in Kir's. Content, Kir ascended into the sky, Ath to the deep shadows of the night. Sar remained, to watch over her creations. She wove others to protect the lands left in Kir and Ath's wake, creatures unlike those she had created first. Where the first were of both Kir and Ath, these were her own children. She poured her own blood and tears into their making, but she new that they would forever lack the pure essence of her parents, that connection to the Dream. And so they would forever be a part of the Reality. But she was content, and so were they. As the world did flourish, Sar did tend to the land, weaving the chaos and calm into a tapestry of harmony. But knowing that she could not remain in the land forever, she segued into the dream her parents were born of, and wove what she saw into the tapestry of the land. It stretched on and on, beyond the realms of reality, meshing together all the elements of the land and stars, of Ath and Kir. Thus was Sar's final gift to the land, before she, like her parents, ascended to the outstretching realms of beyond."
So, if you can gather the gist of that, Sar made human beings, and also another race of creatures (called Dreispa). Although Sar as a diety has fallen out of favour lately, so there is much dispute amongst scholars and the like as to Sar's involvement and level of influence over people. Only the Priests of Rahien maintain a stable level of belief in Sar, while the Aven'Kasel discourages such beliefs. It varies from person to person, but mostly the word 'Sar' has come to be used as a curse.
Rikaila, aka 'Rika', and Aki.
Age: 18 in part 1, 24 in part 2
Height: 179cm (Aki). 180cm (Rika)
Nationality: Narashinian
Place of Birth: Aven'Kasel
Aki (Left) and Rika (Right) are twins, with Aki being the eldest. They have an awkward relationship at best, with Aki being the dutiful daughter, and Rika being the bold upstart. Aki is naturally more quiet than her sister, but her duties as the eldest child have also conditioned her to act with propriety. Rika's bold attitude was somewhat of a reaction to this fact, because she didn't get as much attention. Aki was also more gifted with the Weave than her younger sibling, and in a family so connected to the Aven, ability in the Weave is an important factor. If you like, Aki was above average, while Rika was just 'average'. Something which she constantly tried to rectify by acting boldly, and which is reflected in her audacious appearance. Where Aki has traditionally long hair, Rika deliberately cuts her hair short and tends to make more of her appearance. Unfortunately for Rika, she has a habbit of annoying me more often than not ._.. I really want to like my female characters, because they tend to be under represented in fantasies (most of them get on my nerves, or don't have enough depth), but somehow it's not quite getting there
Donnai
Age: 22 in part 1, 28 in part 2
Height: 181cm
Nationality: Faredanian
Place of Birth: South of the capital, Shaen.
Donnai has the most whacked up colouring of everyone, if you ask me. I blame it on the fact that I was trying to make the Faredanians more interesting, and somehow came up with the idea that if they're in the spice trade, maybe it affects their colouring. Kind of like Dune, but not...
Shusuke
Age: 16 in part 1, 22 in part 2
Height: 172cm
Nationality: Arekaian
Place of Birth: A village north of Danelle, Arekai's major eastern port.
Shusuke, on the other hand, I think I've finally found out what makes him tick. He used to be a whiny angst-boi until I decided that he was really getting on my nerves, so overhauled part of his character and realised he had a strength of personality which I had previously been overlooking. If there's one thing about Shusuke's personality which strikes me, is that he's the kind of person who wants to be loved by others. He sustains himself on being appreciated and understood by others. This has a tendency to let loose all manner of snigger inducing plot bunnies when I question his sexuality, but that rant is for another day. In any case, Shusuke wouldn't be an a-typical uke. I won't deny he's girly, although I feel like giving him a haircut, but Shusuke's not the simpering type. He doesn't give in that easily, which is what I find endearing about him, and why he didn't work as the over-angsting type. He has too much strength of determination for that. His quiet, softly spoken and hard working nature might not make him as interesting as other characters, but I kind of admire his personality. His unwavering ability to just get on with life, no matter what I throw at him (which tends to be a lot of things...)
Kathan, aka 'Katen'
Age: 26 in part 1, 32 in part 2
Height: 188cm
Nationality: Kir'Andarin
Place of Birth: Not entirely sure yet ._.
If not for one person's comment on an Oekaki, I doubt Katen would exist today. He was my attempt to create a 'normal' looking character, as oppose to the usual pretty-boi's. It's partly because of him that I have a distracted infatuation with his country of origin, and his side-story is the closest to completion of anyone else's. What can I say, I luv his scruff >:E. Haha~ Anyway. He's also quite complex, and one thing that comes to mind is that he's not too dissimilar to Shusuke. There's one quote which always strikes me about him, which is that he's a person who balances on the blades edge of elation and despair, as he sees the future of his nation teeter on the brink of collapse. Much of Katen's consternation comes from the continuing conflict between Kir'Andarin an its northern neighbour, Tokema. They are a people he would love to hate, but from experience is unable to because he knows they are not too dissimilar to himself. It is only through unfortunate circumstances that Tsuran and Kir'Andarin are enemies, and Katen's too smart not to realise that. In some ways he's one of my more tragic characters, because his life could have been so different if it weren't for the unfortunate realities of war. Maybe that's why I find him so interesting....
Mikaeru, aka 'Mika'
Age: 19 in part 1, 25 in part 2
Height: 192cm
Nationality: Tsuranian
Place of birth: Kohima, capital of Tsuran.
I can't decide whether Mikaeru or Katen are more deserving of my fangirlisms > :E. They both have their endearing points, and are interesting in different ways. Mikaeru has a really screwed up background, which could take pages to explain. He aspires to optimism, and outwardly he acts with an endearingly open brashness. But the reality is often quite different. He's similar to Katen in that, if not for some circumstances, their lives could have ended up quite different. Although the benefits for Mikaeru are harder to guage than those for Katen. I find Mikaeru's interaction with women to be sources of much amusement as well~ Let's just say that there's a good reason why the definition of the word 'licentious' is on my desktop

Erm - I skimmed the chara descriptions, I'm sorry. I have a proof to do and Dark Tower 7 to read...
But it's absolutely freaking gorgeous anyway. God, such smooth rich deep coloring - I want to chew on it.

Haha, no problem. I was wondering if I made the whole thing too long; I wouldn't be surprised if people didn't have the time to read it
Thankies for the comment though~

Hey, you submitted a colour version! It looks lovely (with all those tones and smooth colouring).
Love the little details you added in in the colouring process, such as the glowing string, the little symbols on their faces...oh yes, wonderful composition as well!
