Description

My first drawing in Procreate on the IPad Pro- without an Apple Pencil.
Borrowed my friend's tablet-----

HELP!!!
Procreate users (especially if you know Adobe too!!!)

I’m trying to decide whether to get an Ipad Pro or a Wacom MobileStudio Pro. I really want something portable. I was raised in Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator, but it sounds like a lot of artists actually really back Procreate. I found it frustrating, but I think more than half of that was not really knowing what I was doing in Procreate or on the Ipad in general (never owned an apple product, only windows- learning curve much!). I would be using it mainly for tracing/inking my drawings and coloring them, I do not need the heavy tools for photomanipulation Photoshop handles. At the same time, there’s certain things I love about Photoshop I couldn’t tell if Procreate just doesn’t do, or I don’t know how. Any help with the following questions below from people who know what the heck they’re doing, would greatly help me in my decision on which route to go. (Honestly I’m thinking about getting the Ipad Pro for on the go, and then saving for a Wacom Cintiq so I can still utilize Adobe Suite on my PC at home with a touch screen pen tablet, especially since Procreate saves to .PSD, I can use both for the same file depending on what I am doing to the file.  I heard the MobileStudio isn’t what it should be atm- dies fast, slow, gets hot, etc. I also heard Ipad pro is "supposed" to be getting full desktop versions of Adobe in the future. Beta this October?)

SO- HELP- QUESTIONS!!

    ·         I only got to test the Apple Pencil in store. The pressure sensitivity did both line weight and opacity at the same time. Is there a way to just get line weight? I wouldn’t want the opacity of my lines changing when inking a drawing.

    ·         Is there a way to turn off the pressure sensitivity all together for the Apple Pencil in Procreate?

    ·         What is the differences between setting the opacity in the actual brush’s setting vs the opacity option on the left side bar?

    ·         The quick fill option for color- can you change the opacity of the fill or is it always 100%

    ·         Can you move the screen around while in transform mode?

    ·         What’s the easiest way to move about the screen while you are drawing? I kept accidently drawing lines or erasing things I didn’t want because it thought my fingers were drawing when I was trying to move the canvas around.

    ·         Does Procreate have something similar to Adobe’s Copy/Paste in Place- then holding shift down to move the item you pasted directly parallel from the original?

    ·         Can you make perfect shapes like in Photoshop & Illustrator (Perfect Shapes. Not the auto snap to a better shape feature it has when you don’t lift your pencil after drawing)

    ·         When you draw a line and don’t lift, it gives you the option to edit a shape/line, the points of it. Can you edit freehand lines with this option too? Also, after you deselect off a line that gave you that option, can you go
back to edit it if you didn’t mean to click off?

    ·         Is there an easier way to drag a copy of an item across the screen (if you want it perfectly parallel to the original, as if a mirrored copy) besides nudging it slow, slow, slowly over and over again by tapping next it?

    ·         Anyone else have issues trying to drag and drop color into a closed shape and pulling down a stupid apple IPad menu instead?

    ·         If I draw a shape in blue, and want to fill it with that same blue, it won’t let me? It bleeds out into the entire page, even with my color/fill threshold at 0%. Yes, I was on the right layer.

    ·         What’s your work around for not having a lasso tool? This is so frustrating and a necessary tool for me.

    ·         Why the heck does my stupid time lapse video export upside down, every time? Grrr.

I'd recommend going to the official Procreate site for questions like these. There's a free digital handbook, a FAQ, and you can make a forum post asking for help. Here's a link  procreate.art/support
