Ah. I feel like I've reconnected with an old friend.
So, if you've been a follower of me for more than five years, you might somewhat recognize this character.
Sam's gone through quite the revamp. changed up her hair style, hair color, body structure, personality, and also history!!! Literally the only things I've kept the same were the name, and her relationships.

(I'd like to point out by relationships I just mean people she's really close to)

Samantha (Sam) Ross
Height: 5'6
Weight: 145 lb
appearance: short Red hair, gold eyes, fair skin,
Strengths: hand to hand combat, keeping control of her emotions, 3D gear, sewing.
Weaknesses: Teamwork, has a disdain for people, pretty hard on herself over her failures. can be a little too prideful

Sam's family lived in Wall Sina, her mother related to many of the important politicians that served under the king. Her father was a conspirator and eventually killed by Kenny Ackerman when he proved to be too smart and too dangerous. sam's father was friends with Erwin Smith's father, the two children also being good childhood friends, but drifting apart after Erwin enlists in the training corps. Sam also has a older sister who went missing when sam was 10 and her sister 12.

When Sam is a teenager, her mother begins to think of an arranged marriage for her with one of the politicians sons. sam instead enlists in the military, and ranks third in her class. She had a goal of joining the military police and investigating her sisters disappearance. On her graduation day, she's approached by Erwin, having heard of Sam's high rank and encourages her to join the scouts. Sam deflects his invitation, but Erwin states that he has friends and acquaintances who can help find her sister a lot faster than her working her way up in the military police.
After a lot of thought and deliberation, she makes a split second choice and joins the survey corps.

For the first few months, she hates being in the survey corps, but trusts Erwin enough. she's also annoyed that she's in the same squad as Hanji (they didn't get along during their time in the training corps)

Over time, Sam gains confidence in her skills, and quickly climbs the ranks. A year after she joined the survey corps, Erwin approaches her and says that there's a lead. after several months of tracking down more and more clues, sam eventually finds her sister dead in the underground. Since her disappearance, her sister had been sold and traded among wealthy and powerful individuals within wall sina, eventually being put in the underground when it was made known sam was getting too close to the truth. Her sister had succumbed to an illness and died.

after a healthy amount of time grieving, Sam harbors a deep anger and resentment towards the government and higher ups. believing it to be corrupt and that humanity is too used to their predicament in the walls. She works to free humanity and also hopes to one day get a shot at avenging her sister.

Trivia: Sam helped capture Isabel and Farlan when they were with Levi.
she struggles with insomnia, and after quite a few awkward nights, she and levi begin to bond over their sleepless nights.
she's not very neat. levi gets really annoyed at her about it too.
Though hanji and her didn't have a good relationship in their training days, they soon form a close bond, but, if levi knocks hanji out to bathe her, he demands sam help him and she will oblige.
She's actually really good at sewing. she doesn't do too much other than mend/hem her uniform and sometimes does embroidery when she's stressed out
Sam and Levi spar in their spare time. It later comes in handy when Sam has a run in with Kenny and recognizes some of his moves.
One of the first things people comment on, is her red hair. it annoys her.
