I've been inspired by a host of things lately that involve bits and pieces of storytelling and childhood. A lot of this piece is influenced by Atlantis: The Lost Empire. Haven't heard of it? It's this highly under-rated Disney movie that just kind of slipped between the cracks over the years, and a personal favourite of mine. Should definitely check it out if you haven't seen it. Now to address the issue of this piece:

There's the nagging of a certain feeling I’ve been having lately. The loss of something. That feeling we lose touch with as we grow up. When we trade in our paper swords for collared ties, our cardboard cars for a second-hand Honda, or our monopoly money for rent. It's the absence of the brilliance in our belief that we can do anything. It’s this feeling that we miss, and we try to understand again as the years grow us older. The little explorer within all of us.

GAH. Sorry to sound so sentimental, but this holiday season is bringing out the inner nostalgic doofus in me.
